Spot Free!

Big sigh of relief. decor8 has carved out a little spot on the web that reflects my own style. The dots and the dark background were too busy, so I decided to go with white for now. If I change my blog as much as I change my home decor, you may be seeing a new design every month. Kidding. I seriously want to just hang out with this design for awhile to see how people respond to it. I hope you like it. :)

My pal, Lisa ([email protected]), is responsible for the pretty flower in the orb and that cool orange eames style chair, and I designed the banner using Fireworks. I’m pretty lame-o when it comes to graphic design since I don’t have a lot of time to dabble in it, but I think this banner presents a clear picture about decor8. I pulled my inspiration from design boards that students and designers rely on communicate their design ideas; decor8 is my way of communicating design ideas to readers like you, so I thought it only made sense to present the site in this way. While selecting colors for the site, I instantly gravitated towards:

orange = health, energy, joy, hope
fuschia = warm, loving, vibrant, passion
teal = peacocks, regal, rich, loyal
green = nature, life, creativity

I hope you like the new look + feel of decor8! If you need blog help, my bloggirl, Kay, created a new template for me in a flash; she even added a 3rd column on the far right, if you recall, decor8 only had 2 columns before. Kay is your girl if you need bloggin’ help. She’s a smart cookie and is based right here in Boston. Here’s a blurb about Kay:

Kay Stoner has been workin’ the web since 1995, (tho’ it seems like a lot longer!). She specializes in client-side coding, which includes coming up with new and different ways to turn plain old information into something enticing and attractive — better than just readable. For all your CSS/DHTML/Javascript coding needs, drop her a line at [email protected]

I still have some formatting work to touch up tomorrow, mainly in the 1st column, but for now, this is it! Back tomorrow with new inspiration and many more fresh finds, g’nite
