I’ve been gifted by an admirer and I simply can’t believe it. It feels so good to get a package with your name on it from someone that you never in the world expected would shower you for no reason at all – well, other than they like your blog. It’s funny, at first I didn’t think of my blog as anything more than a way to catalog things that I find so I can easily reference them at a later date for articles or clients. I also wanted a spot for my clients to visit, along with my friends, so they could check out things that I find since I’m known in my circle as being a research freak. It’s nice that decor8, after only 3 months, has a small following and for that, I really appreciate all of your support. It means a lot when your emails arrive, and I’m excited that what started out so small became something that people actually read and look forward to daily. I encourage everyone to blog because this experience has really enriched my life and I’m really grateful to all 3,000+ of you that check in daily for making this experience something that I look forward to waking up to each day. It’s so nice.
Okay, enough mush. Back to shopping.
When I unwrapped my package, I found inside customized stationery from Fabulous Stationery, a Philly based advertising agency that has been designing personal stationery for over 20 years. Their designs make for a stunning presentation online, but in person, whoa. Totally over the top beautiful. Sure, you can find pretty stationery at many gift stores, but stationery announcing your bridal shower or new baby boy doesn’t often come in such an array of contemporary designs like the ones offered at Fabulous Stationery. My cards (design shown top left) arrived with my full name on them and I must confess, they are so pretty I want to keep them all to myself. I know, I know… that’s not the intended purpose of cards, but still. If you love paper products, you must understand where I’m coming from. It’s often so hard to part with pretty paper. Fortunately for all of us, they offer so many stunning designs that I can always order more (and more and more and, well, more!). You should really check them out.
If you’re reading this, thanks so much, Julie + Jay!
A few of you wrote in to inquire about the print I posted this morning so I didn’t want to leave you hanging. It’s actually a Queen sized sheet set in 100% cotton from Target. I didn’t intend to purchase bedding at Target, in fact, I didn’t even visit that side of the home department for fear of being lured in to throw pillow heaven, never to return. Of course, Target knows that there are many design geeks who shop there and that most of us avoid certain sections for financial reasons. Marketing is a clever beast. They now expose us to home items (like bedding) in random locations in the store, for instance, I found my sheets on display at the end of an aisle near picture frames. Those sneaky snakes.
Of course, when I laid eyes on the ipanema sheets in various shades of gorgeous green, I instantly grabbed them, looking around the store like a squirrel defending a nut (or in this case a nut defending some sheets). As I slowly upzipped (shame!) the package to run my finger along the fabric, I was transported into soft, buttery bliss all for only $29.99. I was in shock at both the price and the quality. It’s not 500 thread count bedding, so for those of you that have the budget for fine linen, you should stop reading right about now as I’m sure this post is making your cringe because yes, I purchased the inferior Target bedding.
By the way, you can’t purchase the set online yet, so you’ll need to contact your local Target to see if they stock this pattern. Also, if you like it but aren’t in the market for new bedding, the sheets have a good weight to them and they’re quite thick – they’d be useful on a DIY project. I’m sure you have a few DIY tricks up your sleeve. A new shower curtain, window treatments, tablecloth or pillows, perhaps?
Note: For those of you outside of the U.S., I’m really sorry for posting again about Target today. I know it breaks your heart. Keep writing to Target to demand they go global and start shipping outside of North America. :)

Okay so I was researching eco-friendly textiles for a project I’m working on and came across Mod Green Pod over at the wonderful Treehugger. For those of you that shy away from “green” products because you think they’re more hippie than hipster, think again.
Green products can be quite colorful and fun, especially when you consider the designs at Mod Green Pod based right here in lovely Boston. Using 100% organic cotton fabrics and creating only vinyl-free wallpaper, you can’t help but adore their products and their cause. Going green never looked so, well, exciting…

Just when you think life can’t get any sweeter, you stumble across the most fantastic Mibo wallpaper and suddenly, you slip into a shopping spiral that leads you blissed out and amazingly broke. But, you know what, the house looks good and sometimes that’s all we design junkies really care about.
So, I’m sure you’ve all seen Mibo lighting, gosh they’re cute and they’re being plugged all over town. I haven’t seen the wallpaper get much press, so I figured I’d step up to the plate and let you know that it does exist, it’s real pretty, and it is totally worth checking out. If wallpaper isn’t enough, Mibo had to go and make more cute stuff for us to freak out over. Look at these throw pillows and ceramic mugs, will ya? I heart Mibo…
Since I’m experiencing sensory overload, I need to go get some fresh air and try to stare at some white space for a moment. Don’t worry, the candy is still coming. I’ll be back with more yummy things soon…
