Real Simple Products at Target

Why is it that whenever we visit Target to pick up a simple roll of paper towels, we surface 3 hours later with $300 worth of really cute purchases in our cart, only to stand in our kitchen later that day realizing we’d forgotten the paper towels? If you feel inspired to flex your spending muscles, it’s time for a visit to your local Target for a real workout. The aisles are packed with new items for Spring fresh from all your favorite designers and more.

I popped over there last night to pick up socks and an hour later, I left without socks but toting bags full of $150 of everything else, which was modest given that I could have dropped about $500 between all their new lamps, linens, stationery and yummy bath products. I wish I had a bigger home. I wish I was a trust fund baby. I wish I wish I wish…

While scouring every single aisle taking in all the new eye candy, plucking some things for myself, I came across the darling Real Simple collection for organizing the office – great products, fun colors, terrific prices. If you’re an office supply geek like I am, you’ll want to run over to your nearest Target to check them out because these snappy items just hit the shelves and are already flying out of there. Any organizing Queen (or King) should turn to the Real Simple collection to de-clutter your workspace. I like it because it’s gender neutral – no patterns are used, just fresh simple solid colors like orange, brown, magenta and blue. In other words, if you’re a guy, no one will to peek in your office and call you a sissy. This collection is grown up and sophisticated, perfect for those of us that like to appear like we are, too.

Some of my picks: I liked the index card deck because it’s riveted at one end and held with a stretchy band like a paint swatch deck. There’s also a smaller version that looks the same but functions differently, it is for storing business cards. I can see it working well for when you’re attending a function and everyone is handing you their business card, you can store them neatly in your Real Simple holder which will keep your handbag organized and the cards will stay neat and crinkle-free for when you want to transfer them to your larger card holder back in the office. Another fab find – the notebooks and folios, magnetic calendars, mail sorting items, project boxes, and desk organizers. The desk filing system was another favorite, with a special compartment for pens and post-its. Hard to describe these goodies, it’s best if you visit Target and see for yourself. I’m sure you’ll really like them. Sorry, they’re not available online yet!

While you’re at it, pick up the Real Simple Solution book containing tricks, wisdom and easy ideas to simplify everyday from the Editors of Real Simple magazine. It’s available at Target or online for only $15.72.
