Lekker – Boston

I spotted some goodies while browsing Lekker over the weekend. This sleek wall mountable key holder from Germany sure is a class act. I love the molecular shapes of these contemporary Bicox serving dishes from designer Emmanual Babled, too. They are so bright and cheery in person, the colors pop! Lekker carries a great selection of teak furniture sporting clean simple lines, complimenting both a traditional and contemporary space. As I ran my hand over a teak table top, examining the wood grain, I felt weak at the knees. Teak lust.

You can find other treasures at Lekker, especially if you delight in serving your guests in style with dinnerware from Germany. Take the Cumulus dishware, for example. Made in Germany by Kahla in fine porcelin with delicate mesh patterns in aqua and white, suble, clean, simple yet stunning. Graphics that won’t compete with the food you’ve prepared to place on it. Lekker also stocks the gorgeous floral Five Senses collection from Kahla, too. If you want to dress up your table with festive dinnerware, the TRIC Points collection from Sieger Design is a favorite of mine, spotty chic!

You can order from Lekker online, or visit them in the South End at 1317 Washington Street in Boston.

Open Thread: Prints into Textiles – How?

A few decor8 readers wrote in this week on the topic of textile manufacturing. I thought it would be a good idea to turn these email inquiries into an open thread here on decor8, especially since we have such a vast pool of talented and experienced readers out there.

“I am interested in turning my designs in to textiles. Do you, or any of your readers, know where I should begin? How do I find manufacturers? What’s the best way to get started with such a venture?”

I’m opening this thread up for discussion. Advice anyone?

BellaMuse Prints

We all love the cards at BellaMuse, but did you know that many lush giclee + silkscreen graphics for the wall also exist? Oh yes, my friend, droolworthy objects of art that you’ll love to frame and display in your space. Boring wall need a pick-me-up? Head to BellaMuse.

The silkscreens are limited editions, printed by hand, signed and numbered by the artist, Alicia Peck. They’re around $275 each.

If you’re on a budget, you should consider the BellaMuse print collection. These babies add pep to your pad with stunning, colorful, happy graphics… All are printed using the giclee printing process and will fit standard size frames. They’re available in a variety of sizes and mats, priced between $35-$165.

Psst: If you plan to be in NYC anytime soon, BellaMuse has an art stand on weekends in the heart of SOHO on the south east corner of West Broadway @ Spring Street. Click here for directions.

coffee + cre8tive {may 23 ’06}

Did you see Cally’s collection of buttons on her blog? You’ll just love them. For a quick mini project, I decided to look for glass jars with metal lids. I found some at target in clear glass with metal screw top lids that are absolute perfection. My plan is to display them on the shelf above my desk… Filling them with pretty + colorful things that make me happy.

The first jar will contain buttons. Old, new, all shapes and sizes. The second, vintage spools of thread, you know the kind on the off-white thin spools that you can tell have been used? And the third, maybe used stamps that I’ve collected from Europe dated between the 30s and the 60s. I’ve also thought about filling it with torn samples of my favorite wallpaper patterns or little rolls of my favorite fabric samples tied like scrolls with a thin ribbon around each.

What would you fill your jars with?
