This blog, Hello My Name Is Heather, really inspired me as I read it over the weekend. Written by Heather Bailey from California, I love how this lady looks at the world, and her photos are simply stunning. I thought about all of you when I read it, thinking that you’d enjoy it, too. Especially nice for the moms out there, since Heather creates a lot of beautiful things for kids. My favorite is the “Lucky Lily” post where she features a lovely jacket created out of vintage linens she picked up at the Rose Bowl flea market. Sah-wooon!

As many of you know, I’m a big fan of Orla Kiely so naturally, when I spotted this Orla interview on the very cool Handbag website, I had to share it with all of you since I suspect that you’re Orla fans (or about to be), too.
Irish designer Orla Kiely is one of the leading names in London fashion and is now a member of the Dulux Creative Board (readers: please check out delux for online color theory 101!). Handbag caught up with her to ask her about her interiors style.
Where do you get your inspiration from when decorating your home?
I get it from everything. All around me are interesting details, patterns and colours. My work takes me across the world and I make a point of always going to the local market. Living in London is also great; there are lots of exhibitions here, which I find inspiring. I went to a Luc Tuymans exhibition recently at the Tate, which I found I loved for colour.

Have you heard of Dog + Pony Show designs? Headed up by California girls Melissa Altman, an LA girl with a Master Degree in Art History and Jen Garrido, an Affiliate Artist at the Headlands Center of the Arts in San Francisco. As a perky little team of two, they design whimsical heartfelt greetings that will pull at anyones heart strings just a little bit (tug… tug…).
Shop them online.
California dreaming here in New England with another rainy Saturday… What are you guys and dolls up to today? I have a terrific Boston loft tour to take you on (20 photos!). You’re going to love this uber hip dream pad done by a local DIY bachelor, what a a tour. Stick around for more on that later…

I found another online destination for lovely Asian interiors, Lombok, based in London. Seems they have 10 stores in the London area, with one being their brand new clearance store which features savings up to 90% off of retail prices (located at Unit 2, The Gasworks, 2 Michael Road, London). I love their organic style, with everything being eco-friendly and oh-so fabulous to look at. From desks to dining chairs, they seem to carry a broad range of furniture and accessories that are sophisticated but not stuffy, the emphasis being on natural and elegant materials like suede, ceramics, mother-of-pearl, and split bamboo. I guess this is another stop to add to my list of must-see design stores in London. What a city, that London town! I think I should just move there, don’t you? :)
