This was the first episode that I actually FELT these people – I mean, it didn’t feel like all the other weeks, like a dumb reality show. Tonight, it felt very emotional to me – like they all somehow earned a spot, equally, for their own show. I mean, let’s put aside that these aren’t THE most talented in all of America, BUT working with who we have left, they all have a special something.

Temple is actually a nice person – I saw a different side to her tonight, a more vunerable side, and it was something I could better relate to. She wasn’t that great on camera though – she seemed very shy, she barely looked at the camera. That surprised me. Outside of the angled throw rugs, I thought Temple’s space was quite nice. She can style a space quite well (except throw rugs). You’d think she would have avoided angling anything given that she heard the judges comments about this weeks before re: Donna.

Alice stepped up her game and became the “Laurie Smith” of hosting a show, very southern, adorable, charming. Since I was raised in South Carolina and now I’m way up here in New England, her charm was refreshing – I’ve really missed that sweetness because north of the mason dixon line, let’s face it, people just don’t wear pigtails over 21 and smile all the time. I really like her personality – I think she is cute because she is stylish, sweet, and I would watch her show.

Tym also impressed me with his camera charm – he was very down to earth, like someone that would fit that hgtv demographic – he also is someone that the ‘average’ hgtv viewer can relate to. I didn’t like his space, I think he takes ALL of his projects to this 50% point and calls it finished, but in my mind, nothing looks cozy or appealing. He is a cutie. I loved how he said, “I have never been called macho before”. He seems very humble, I like that. Cynthia Rowley seemed to be very impressed, it was kinda cute.

I think the clear winner is David. He has this Vern Yip quality to him, very confident, friendly, sweet, cleans up well(he wore clothes tonight!), builds, does great DIY art… He seems to really have a great eye for color. He just didn’t grab me on camera. He was rushed and said a lot without saying anything. But, that can be learned.

I do love Alice – I would like to see her win, but I think David will have it. I think he had it for several weeks now.

Looking forward to Alice in INSTYLE magazine. She will be perfect for them.

So, in the end, Temple was cut. Strange to say this, because at first she turned me off a bit, but I actually liked her in the end.

    Holly

Ok here’s the short & sweet… I thought Temple’s room was very average, she needed to step it up and she admitted the angled rugs were a last minute thing, really bad choice! I didn’t like Tym’s room at all, it felt cold. BUT I liked Tym on camera, I could see him in that moment being a host. I liked Alice’s room, it was very serene and welcoming and she was great on camera. BUT my favorite is still David. I think he rocks. And while I loved his room, I have to admit I was suprised to see him close it off like that. I thought that in such a small space you really would NOT want to obstruct the flow in the room. Though I love David, I thought Alice deserved the win this week. JADE (www.cravinganthropologie.blogspot.com)

I haven’t been watching the show as closely as Project Runway but I did catch last night’s episode. I like Tym. I think he really can appeal to an audience better then the others but he does have a hard time trying to pull together his ideas and thoughts into something visual. David clearly designs well. Alice, was good but she should have broken up the walls a little. All that Tiffany Blue would not make me feel glamourous but in the winter… cold, frigid and depressed. Although it kind of had a beachy feel, I think there was just too much blue on the walls. Temple’s room was okay but I think she just had way too many chairs. If you look back at her room there were chairs all over the place stuffed in corners and I just can’t see why you would need so many chairs?? I didn’t like her sitting area with the 2 chairs and the little table but I guess I would have had to see the sofa/bed as a sofa and not a bed to get a real feel for what the living/lounging area was like.

I agree. I’ve been watching this show since the start and have never felt personality until yesterday. I still am not super impressed with any of them though. Like the judges said, they aren’t thinking creative enough. I enjoyed Alice’s room and also Davids. I know its not supposed to be the best designers out there, but none of them have wowed me yet! :)

ARGH! I wrote this long entry and it crashed on me. Well, basically I agree with everything that has been said here. Temple is bland. Tym has a lot of potential. David is awesome. Alice is cute.

Tym is probably in the top two design wise, but his voice just makes me want to bang my head against the table. He tries to be funny and intersting, but it just comes off as boring.

Was it just me or was anyone else surpised that Tym didn’t think of green as in green living i.e. eco-friendly. I thought green was the easiest color given the different meanings you could play off but he seemed to have just thought about green grass. Like the judges, I was sort of bummed they all took the color so literally and just painted the walls.

It was fun to see them give the tours of the rooms. Even if the designers aren’t the best in the world I really love this show. David has it in the bad (unless he screws up and Alice wins)
