Broadway Paper

Jenn thought decor8 readers would like to know about Broadway Paper, and I agree, it’s a great spot for paper goods from many of our favorite designers. Owner and fellow paperholic, Tracie Stier-Johnson, is forever on a mission to find the sweetest stationery, gift wrap, office items, stickers, journals… The list is endless. Featured designers include Bob’s Your Uncle, Egg Press (my personal favorite), Elum, Snow + Graham, Style Press, and more! You can visit Broadway Paper in Milwaukee, Wisconsin at 191 North Broadway, or you can shop Tracie’s store online. Take a peek of her shop below…

Thanks Jenn for the tip!

MyMimi Baby

Mimi Cha at MyMimi creates some seriously cute handmade plush baby toys, very unique and colorful. In fact, if I were a baby, I’m willing to bet I’d be kicking my legs and drooling in delight over these things. I’m sure lots of modern moms out there are looking for new and interesting baby toys. Since I’m not a kinder blogster (I’ll leave that up to the tot trend spotters over on the coochicoos blog), I don’t write much about baby finds, but when decor8 contributor Christine shared MyMimi with me, I had to share it since they have major cuteness going on.

By the way, if you’ve been wondering where Miss Christine is, she’s busily preparing her thesis and wrapping up studies at MIT, but she’ll be blogging again on decor8 with fresh finds towards the end of August!

Thanks Christine for the tip!

Who will be the next Design Star? I wasn’t able to watch the entire show last night, I only tuned into the last 20 minutes of it, so I don’t have a lot to say here (for once!) Can someone please get me up to speed with highlights on what I missed?

I was glad to see Vanessa eliminated for obvious reasons, did you see it coming? I didn’t. I had mixed feelings about Teman leaving; he brought a lot of feeling to the show, he’s very supportive of others and had teddy bear charm that made everything feel less competitive. But, it seems T + T have accomplished a lot in life together, so this may present a real aha! moment for the both of them to be separated for awhile, doing their own thing. Did you catch that Cynthia Rowley nearly broke down as the two brothers bid farewell? Her display of emotion was very spontaneous and natural, it didn’t at all appear staged. It added a bit of warmth to the show that I appreciated.

I think that David really showed his true colors, as did Temple. I liked the the sofa with the chrome accents. I loved the hamster balls on the sofa filled with wood chips – clever!

Just one question: Should the show just end now with David as the winner? I’m thinking he could host his own design show called “Topless Design” or something. Seriously, what is up with his wardrobe (or lack of)? I’m not understanding why he runs around half naked.

But he is talented…

Your comments?

Les Louisettes: Wall Decals from France!

Julie Schalit from Les Louisettes located in Bailleau-Armenonville, France wrote to me this past Thursday about her site (by the way, it’s the cutest, you have to see for yourself). Les Louisettes specializes in pretty vinyl decals which are quite popular in Europe, evident by their extensive stocklist alone – they are sold all over France (especially Paris), as well as Denmark, Belgium, Holland, Germany, and Iceland. You can find them online at two very sweet French websites, both of which I cannot read, Decoccinelle and Mes Habits Ch?ris, but they certainly look charming!

If you have any questions, or if you’re interested in placing an order, please contact Julie at [email protected] or you can download Les Louisettes full-color catalog in .PDF format here (lower right corner, floral box) to view all of their decal designs.

If you’re in Paris this September, you can visit Les Louisettes at the Maison + Objet show, hall 6, stand H3 from September 1-5, 2006.
