coffee + cre8tive {sept 15 ’06}

I really love foxy + winston. I especially love the hedgehog print shown above. The peacock in lace is clever, too. Something about bold red and navy lately, I’m finding myself more and more attracted to it. These cards would look equally lovely as fabric, wouldn’t they?

Any weekend plans?

    Hi Holly,
    Any ideas on how to make bold red and navy work in a way that doesn’t seem nautical? I have a navy sofa – small navy and cream stripes with navy pillows in denim. I also have a red Saarinen chair in the ‘office zone’ of our living room. I’ve been having the darndest time finding cool/modern accessories that will make the room cohesive. However, I’m getting the hunch (like you suggested) that navy and red will soon have its moment.

    Hi Island spice:

    Can I say some thing here-

    Multi colored pillows – especially the indian prints can be used here. Combination of orange/fusia pink and red or fusia and lavender color with a little of silver/ gold color in between.

    pottery which is very south western.
    or Baskets which are colorful of many sizes and shapes and different kinds of weaves and designs
    or have you noticed indian crafts – different kinds of hand fans or mirror work hangings.

    If you are going for a lot of colorful accesories i would not suggest a jute rug or if you want to make it look colorful use a navajo print rug.

    coming to the definition of modern – i define modern as how you would place an item. gallery effect is what i call modern.

    my 2 cents. i could not without answering this. i dealt with a similar room in a friend’s place and we tackled it as said above.
