J Crew Eye Candy

March 9, 2007

So I was talking to my friend Becky the other day about shoes, because I’m on the hunt for yellow, blue, or red flat peep toes (I loved the BCBG Girls flats in Blueprint this month, but they’re impossible to find via BCBG, you have to hunt around Neiman’s or Macy’s). During this chat, she said why she loved shoes so much. They don’t give her muffin top.

Becky sent me over to J Crew, where I fell into peep toe heaven, and then I came across their Spring ad campaign. I love me some product shots, I’m always trying to see how I can turn outfits into rooms (thanks to Domino).

I’m seeing a lot of yellow, blue, and red this Spring.

If you need decorating inspiration, look no further than clothing catalogs and stores. Serious. Look at how colors and patterns are mixed together and try to think of ways you could do the same in your wardrobe and beyond – rooms. Inspiration can come from anywhere.

Psst: Want to see the best trench coat in the world?

Hit or Diss?

March 8, 2007

Look at this image carefully. Found this today in the NYTimes and had to share. Designers for Karastan used vinyl storage bags filled with recycled materials as seating at the recent Dining By Design event in New York. Is this idea a hit or a diss?

Would you try this at home? What would you you fill yours with?

March 8, 2007

Thanks Corbett for telling me about the new Variegated etsy shop. There’s a slew of sale items on overstock and sample pillows, which they’re moving out at great prices to make room for new Spring lines. Pillows priced between $15-25 – gotta love that!

Bathing Beauties via Boston magazine

March 8, 2007

I try not to talk about myself on this blog because design is the focus, but after looking at the March issue of Living Etc with freestanding bathtubs in nearly every home featured, I had to point you to an article that appears in Bathing Beauties via Boston magazine

Urban Outfitters *New* for Spring

March 8, 2007

A huge thanks to Kiley from Urban Outfitters for sending over a cd product preview for Spring. No sticker shock here, great buys for doing a little Spring spruce up in your home. Here are my picks:

Urban Outfitters *New* for SpringUrban Outfitters *New* for SpringThe mid century sofa for only $480- (what a deal), and a floral ink blot rug for $68. A kitschy cute swedish tile hook for $10 (available in 4 patterns), and an oilcloth optic table for $29. I think the table would look really cute on a patio, don’t you?

Urban Outfitters *New* for SpringI find the swedish rose bedspread for $32 to be quite sweet (did you notice it’s being used as a curtain in the top image behind the mid century sofa – I like that!) and these vegetale wall decals for $50 (these aren’t new but they’re on sale so I thought I’d throw them in) are a great find – apply them to most surfaces. I bet a single flower would look great on a chalkboard, mirror, or a stainless fridge. And finally, my last fave, this porcelain lattice lamp base for $42 (minus the shade they show it with online, not a fan of that).

Thanks again, Kiley!
