Artsy Walls: Alison from Sylphofthestitch

More art to love. This time, it’s from Toronto girl, Alison G. from the Sylphofthestitch blog. Nice workspace, thanks for sending this in!

“I finally decided to convert my dining table into a desk. I’m pretty happy thus far, I’m more productive. I think. The sun pours in in the morning and I’m at ground level so I can look out at all the people walking on the street.” – Alison

Thanks, Alison! The clothesline display is a huge trend right now, I can’t believe how often I’m seeing this in homes — It’s a great way to rotate what inspires you without investing in frames and nailing too many holes into your wall (especially good for renters). If you don’t want to use traditional clothespins, you can opt for mini binder clips or mini clothespins in plain wood, primary colors, or in pastel colors (I really like the white myself).

HOW TO: To create this fun wall display, locate 2 tacks (I like map tacks), a few mini clothespins, and about 36″-70″ of twine or Beadalon wire, size depends on how long you’d like your display to be. I suggest 36″-50″ max since a long line tends to sag a lot; you want your line to remain somewhat taut. Measure your wire/twine to fit the space, and tie *one* end tightly around *one* tack. Position your tack into the wall and firmly pull the wire/twine and then when you find the perfect spot, position the tack into the wall and tie/loop that end around the tack. Try to keep your art as lightweight as possible – cards, photographs, gift tags, etc. work best.
