Artsy Walls: Phara from Your Mirror Or Mine

April 17, 2007

Phara from the blog, Your Mirror Or Mine, would like to share a wall in her living room that she’s fond of. This display reminds me of a clock face, each picture a number around the mirror in the center. I like to see a creative grouping like this, and how it can make each piece so much more interesting when some thought it given to the arrangement.

Artsy Walls: Alison from Sylphofthestitch

April 17, 2007

More art to love. This time, it’s from Toronto girl, Alison G. from the Sylphofthestitch blog. Nice workspace, thanks for sending this in!

Artsy Walls: Alison from Sylphofthestitch“I finally decided to convert my dining table into a desk. I’m pretty happy thus far, I’m more productive. I think. The sun pours in in the morning and I’m at ground level so I can look out at all the people walking on the street.” – Alison

Thanks, Alison! The clothesline display is a huge trend right now, I can’t believe how often I’m seeing this in homes — It’s a great way to rotate what inspires you without investing in frames and nailing too many holes into your wall (especially good for renters). If you don’t want to use traditional clothespins, you can opt for mini binder clips or mini clothespins in plain wood, primary colors, or in pastel colors (I really like the white myself).

HOW TO: To create this fun wall display, locate 2 tacks (I like map tacks), a few mini clothespins, and about 36″-70″ of twine or Beadalon wire, size depends on how long you’d like your display to be. I suggest 36″-50″ max since a long line tends to sag a lot; you want your line to remain somewhat taut. Measure your wire/twine to fit the space, and tie *one* end tightly around *one* tack. Position your tack into the wall and firmly pull the wire/twine and then when you find the perfect spot, position the tack into the wall and tie/loop that end around the tack. Try to keep your art as lightweight as possible – cards, photographs, gift tags, etc. work best.

Show me your art wall!

April 17, 2007

An earlier post today on displaying art made me think of something. It’s nice seeing art in the styled homes of our favorite magazines because that’s where we go to pick up tips, but how do *you* display your art, and are you willing to share your wall/s with other decor8 readers? If so, please email your art wall to me at decor8blog {at} yahoo {dot} com with a link to your blog/website, along with your name and I just may post it right here sometime this week. So go ahead… It’s time to show and tell. :)

Show me your art wall! Here’s a snapshot of Erin’s art wall, isn’t it cool? For a guide to all the art in this photo, click here. Thanks Erin for the tip! I spotted an Ashley Goldberg there already… I love that girl!
