Paper Table (+ Nicole’s Amazing Front Porch)

Robin from Paper Table sent me an email about all their new tablemats, coasters, and napkins and since I’d not heard of Paper Table before, I thought it would fun to blog today. I really like the reusable papers they carry because they’re waterproof, have a matte finish, and are 100% recyclable. And okay, the patterns are perky, fresh, and bold and we all know that paper has to be perky on the tabletop because it makes the meal taste better. At least I’m hoping…

Linens are nice, but I’m also keen on paper products, at least during the summer months when meals tend to be on the fly or enjoyed outdoors. They are great for bridal and baby showers, too. But I have to confess, some magazine I was reading this month was “blessing” the idea that we can now use paper plates in place of china for dinner parties. Pahleese. I paused and started rollin’ my eyes and getting all uptight. I’m a southern girl, at least I was raised down there, and using paper plates for anything other than good old Carolina pig pickin’s is considered country. At least in my family. We looked for reasons to break out the good stuff and decorate the house. I’d never invest hours in meal preparation only to serve it up on plastic with bright yellow dixie cups. But as far as quick eats, outdoor meals, and okay, eat-in kitchen style lunches, it’s perfectly fine by me. Paper Table products get this girls approval. :)

It would be fun to use different Paper Table patterns on a picnic table, string paper lanterns overhead, and get the grill crackin’. I can also see them on Nicole’s amazing front porch (above), too. Just look at that red table sitting there all cute. Nicole is such an inspiration. She’s blogging her entire new home overhaul on Making It Lovely, some of us die hards have been following her saga for months. If you don’t already know about Nicole and her abode, consider yourself informed, it’s a great read. And aren’t her tissue paper pom-poms from Martha Stewart adorable? My mother has been making these for years, I mean, she’s the pom-pom queen. Now I can hit her up for some and they’ll actually be in vogue if I put them around my house. “Oh, mom!”

Oh and thanks Robin for the tip on Paper Table!

I’m nuts about paper, and even more nuts about paper plates – what a GREAT find!!

To this day, I have never seen a paper plate product in my parent’s home. It’s just not “done”– even for outdoor BBQs. In fact, when she or my dad pop over & visit (they live down the street)I know to serve them their refreshments in a glass rather than the cheery plastic tumblers I favor for everyday.

Oh, and I love Nicole! She’s designing my new website, and she is just as fabulous for ecommerce projects as she is for home improvement.

Just a friendly comment about those pom poms, if you don’t want to spend $20 on the kit, Martha has instructions on how to make them yourself

i recently held a bridal shower where we made the tissue pom poms from scratch (pictures in blog). i’m surprised there is a kit for them when they’re actually very easy to make. a lot of people refer to them as a martha stewart creation but my friend made them in the 3rd grade. :)

i made a million of those pom-pons for my wedding *right before* the martha issue came out!

Thanks SO MUCH for that link, Olivia. It would be so pretty to make some using tissue and vellum paper combined, in patterns, wouldn’t it?

Greengelato- I know, my mother started making them in the 70′s or maybe even before I was born who knows. I just remember them around in parties she had for me. Even at my bridal shower in 2001, she made a gadzillion. I hear you, THEY ARE SO easy to make. But I think the kit is for those that may not realize that? Or maybe those that don’t think they can do it on their own? I’m not sure.

too funny, my friend and I just made those pom poms the other day for her baby’s nursery! -without- the kit, ’cause as you all have mentioned, they are super duper easy. pics here: http://tinyurl.com/2m6hrw

I love the tissue poms too. My friend Jessica just made a bunch for a bridal shower she hosted. I will have to try it out this weekend!
