Mood Board Contest: Italian Palazzo by Suzie

An Italian Palazzo by the Sea is not just a dream for one decor8 reader. Suzie currently lives in China but has property along the shores of Italy and is soon to be knee deep in the process of renovating it into her dream home. She plans to document everything on her blog, Palazzo Pizzo, over the next several months. Imagine having your very own palazzo to renovate? One can only dream… For Suzie, it’s (almost) a reality.

Name: Suzie
Occupation: Manager on sabbatical
Blog: http://palazzopizzo.blogspot.com/
Country: Actually living in Beijing, PR China (born in Germany, married to an Italian)
Theme: Renovation of an Italian Palazzo at the Sea.
Inspiration: I look at the colours of the sea, the mountains and flowers in Calabria, corral and seashells. I see the houses around in sienna brown, beige, pink with terra cotta roof tiles. Two fresko remain in the house and could give the colour theme for two rooms. I want to plant purple bouganvilla and a yellow lemon tree. It was time for me to finally do a mood board as we have the pleasure of renovating an over 200 year old palazzo in the South of Italy. Thank you for organizing a mood board competition! The renovation has not started yet, architects were supposed to make proposal, but nothing has happened in the last six months. Of course the main problem is that at the moment we are based on the other side of the world (in China). However, my father-in-law will be on site in the next days and kick-off the thing. He will be there until we arrive in mid-July for a three weeks summer holiday. I wanted to do a design board for a while and started with this one.

Mood Board Contest: Island Inspired Bathroom by Sheri Johnson

More beautiful mood boards to look at today! I’m finding so many are inspired by nature, and for good reasons, one never tires of the beauties to be found in the natural world.

Name: Sheri Johnson
Occupation: Real Estate Professional
Blog: http://sherijohnson.blogspot.com/
Location: Seattle, Washington, US
Theme: Bathroom — Water, natural elements, tranquil, earth.
Inspiration: This board is inspired by the beauty, tranquility, and simplicity of the Canadian Gulf Islands. We spend our summer months here. The ebb and flow of the salt water, abundant wildlife, and natural beauty all form a safe, healing and and peaceful place. The warm dry air is salty and filled with the scent of dry cedar.

Two Trees *New* June Gifts

The very sweet Shanna is so good about keeping me in the loop when she updates her etsy store, Two Trees. I love how she designs and creates her collection according to a different theme each month, so unique! Last month, the collection was all about shopping at the market.

During the month of June, her theme is Pretty Things, in celebration of carefree summer days. “Days when you can hear the soundtrack to your life just about everywhere; I’ve let a song inspire this month’s line.” Shanna says. “My favorite, the one that always seems to make it on a playlist is When Mac was Swimming by The Innocence Mission.” Isn’t it great that a song can inspire one to create such beautiful things? Below, you’ll see friendship bracelets and a very creative way to send a greeting to someone… Visit Two Trees for details.

Mood Board Contest: Notting Hill Inspired by Ana

Here’s a mood board that actually incorporated Amy Butler fabric into the design. This entry may not qualify though (sorry!) because all mood boards need to be created by hand (vs. solely via computer). Despite that though, I wanted to at least show you the entry because I think Ana did a nice job and it’s quite clever that she was the first to use Amy’s fabric — I was waiting to see who would think to do that! Notice the table and chairs, the butterfly motif is unexpected and very sweet.
