Fresh Eggs Vintage

November 7, 2007

I’ve talked about Stephanie DosReis before but did you know that she changed the name of her etsy shop from Ponies & Sugar Cookies to simply Stephanie DosReis where she sells her crafty things (like fabric houses)?

Fresh Eggs Vintage
And did you hear that she also has a 2nd store on etsy selling vintage wares, it’s called Fresh Eggs Vintage. These vintage S+P shakers for $10 are my personal faves because I have a bit of a crush on pyrex.

Fresh Eggs Vintage
I’m inspired by ladies like Stephanie – the various things she’s into, the great big life she’s living, it’s the best. Don’t let anyone tell you that you can only wear one hat in this life, the more hats you wear the better because then you’re flexible and a hard ship to sink. Congrats Stephanie on Fresh Eggs Vintage and the many wonderful things that you’re pursuing.

Fresh Eggs Vintage
I especially like this shot of a table in her house where she’s arranged some of the things that are inspiring her lately – all finds from places like etsy and ebay of course. I spy this and this. :)

Charliemotel

November 7, 2007

Charliemotel is a darling business owned by Megan and husband Dylan in the UK. They run their own design and production company, Colour Mafia, that keeps them quite busy, but on the side Meg decided to recently set up shop on etsy as an escape to pursue a creative life free of the pressures that come with taking on clients in her ‘day job’.

Charliemotel The creative process.

Here’s a glimpse of some of her illustrative work, she seems to really fancy sweet little deer, pretty little girls in sweet outfits, and pretty pastels.

Charliemotel
Charliemotel carries writing sets, badges, gift tags, cards, prints, and so many pretty things you’ll want to fill your cart so you can have plenty on hand for gifts!

Raydel Photography {new}

November 7, 2007

Jen Renninger from the Still Room Studio Print shop on etsy wrote to me about her sister’s new etsy store, Raydel Photography, with soft vintage-like photographs with a lovely patina. Each photo seems to hold special meaning, almost as if the corners of someone’s home and special collections inside are unfolding before our very eyes, revealing cherished possessions.

Raydel Photography {new}
What I find the most inspiring about her is not only the body of work but her very brief history as a photographer, it’s quite amazing. Here’s what Jen has to say about it, “In August Della bought a camera, with the intention of becoming a photographer. We laid out the instructions (Bill and I were photo majors in school and he is a photo instructor now), helped to edit, and she shot. And shot. And shot. Thousands of pictures.” And now, only a few months later, Della opened an etsy store and just took part in her first art show at The Gala Corina in Tampa, Florida – wow!

And here are some of the photographs that you can own via her new etsy store. There’s a quiet beauty about her work, deep and dreamy, it really appeals to me.

Raydel Photography {new}Thank you Jen for sharing Della’s work with us – you’re right, she’s amazing!

A quick side point I’d like to make: Sometimes we let our lack of “history” or education in a certain area hold us back from going for it. We think that we don’t hold a degree as a painter, then we have no right to paint or if we don’t study graphic design, we can’t start taking on clients. Perhaps we discredit our work because we haven’t been at it since childhood as some of the most impressive bios sometimes intimidate us. I think Della shows us that good work is good work – whether you’ve been at it for 10 years or 10 weeks. Put your work out into the world and see what the response is. Just do it. Don’t hold back if you have passion for something. Isn’t that what the American dream is all about – going for it and having the opportunity to do so?

Ida Pearle {abc cards}

November 7, 2007

Have you heard of NYC-based artist Ida Pearle? Neither had I until I received a newsletter today from Mahar Drygoods announcing the arriving of her Alphabet cards.

Ida Pearle {abc cards}
I did a little research and discovered her website, where she sells prints, totes, and cards in addition to the abc cards on the Mahar website. I think they’re darling and would make for the best present, but I wouldn’t say that they’re only for kids because I would use them to display, frame, and place around my own home for a dash of whimsy.

Ida Pearle {abc cards}
It would be fun to lean a few of your favorites on a shelf in the kitchen or frame your initials, something cute like that. If you’d like to learn more about Ida, click here to read her complete bio.

If you’re interested in her ABC cards, here’s the link to where you can purchase them over at Mahar Drygoods.
