Reader Q: Find This Pillow!

Fiona Lucas from the UK is a new decor8 reader with a life long addiction to interiors (she’s a designer) and a new found love of blogs. She wrote to me today looking for some cushions from an Elle Decoration UK article, the pastel silk ones, from Vanessa Bruno’s Paris apartment. Fiona is exhausted from her search and still hasn’t found the pillow shown below. Can anyone give her any leads?

Assuming she already combed through the April ’07 issue of Elle Decoration, perhaps Fiona can write to the magazine directly or contact Ms. Bruno’s assistant somehow? Hmmm. If not, here’s a few leads Fiona and with the help of readers, perhaps they can point us to some great online stores for throw pillows like the ones you’re dreaming of here.

MirrorMirror, Megan Park, LLPH, Graham and Green, and of course Anthropologie has embroidered pillows. Or you could hit a few flea markets or ebay to find an embroidered pillowcase, scarf, silk robe, and have it made into a pillow by a sewer. Embroidered items are everywhere right now – such a huge trend – so you may find something you like (shirt or bag) and then can design your own cushion by using it – you know, make it a one-of-a-kind Fiona original. You can also click on the word pillows linked below to see the many articles relating to them that have appeared in the past on decor8. You may find what you’re looking for there.

Can anyone help Fiona?

They’re probably silk shams. I have a queen-sized duvet set in pink with 2 shams. They have the embroidery in the center and the pleated frame. Your best bet is to try Chinatown.

They actually look a lot like Megan Park from a previous collection, but I can’t find any evidence online.

Thanks so much for the mention. A lovely surprise!

That apartment is still probably my favourite of all time…

Those are Chinese pillows – I have two in blue and two in red, both of which I have found in thrift stores. They can often be found in Chinatown’s though. There is a yellow one in the picture below in the same style.

They are beautiful. I also took note of them when paging through Elle Deco!

As far as I rember this article – Vanessa Bruno herself was the author of the embroidery. Maybe this fact (if it’s a fact indeed) makes the pillow impossible to find? But flat was stunning – wasn’t it?
