Drew Barrymore In Domino

Along the lines of meeting famous people, I can’t wait to pick up the April issue of Domino magazine with Drew Barrymore on the cover (my Domino favorite cover ever). She’s another lady I’d love to hang out with for an afternoon and not only did Domino have that opportunity, but another talented lady was involved that I’m a huge fan of. Ruthie Sommers.

She recently hired on the talented interior designer Ruthie Sommers to translate her stylish vision for an office that doesn’t feel stuffy or overly serious. Domino calls it the “un-office” defined as, “A chic working environment that reflects each partner’s personality”.

I admire Drew so much, she’s one of those child actors that is in her 30′s now and still working in Hollywood despite hundreds of others that never made it past childhood roles. And she’s stylish, down-to-earth, and so very pretty. I imagine that though her life looks simply lovely on the outside, she must sometimes wonder what it would be like to be ‘normal’ like the rest of us. All I can say is that normal has it’s perks, but to have thousands of dollars to spend on designing a home and to enlist Ruthie Sommers to do it for you? I’d trade my normal title (and income) for that any day.

Tour the “un-office” of Drew Barrymore here.

P.S. Does anyone have the publishing date yet for Ruthie Sommers‘ new book L.A. House? Amazon changed the release date from this Spring to 1975? Yeah, strange. Anyone know the scoop?

Okay, scrolled quickly through the post so as not to see the pics cause I haven’t gotten mine yet! But TOO excited that Drew is on it and in it :) She’s evolving into quite the woman. REALLY can’t wait for the mail to come now.

I don’t have the issue either but no worries, this post isn’t a spoiler as it’s meant to whet your appetite for it which I’d say — mission accomplished by your comment. I can’t wait to see it in person too.
    :)

Oh and Holly, I saw this little bit on that L.A. House book a little while ago. Has a little bit of insight into why the book keeps on being pushed back, but no set date. Such a bummer!

I love Drew too, Hols. She just seems so real, and like she’d be a fun gal to hang out with. She’s pretty inspiring, too, making it through some adversity in her younger years and turning out to be such a successful businesswoman. Can’t wait to see her place in Domino!

    Hi Holly…

Someone left this comment on my blog:
    http://decorno.blogspot.com/2008/02/does-anyone-know-if-this-is-still-on.html

    “Don’t hold your breath.

This book was originally developed by Judith Regan of Reganbooks (an imprint of HarperCollins). When Judith got canned (you can google her name for all the gory details) all her projects went back to the parent company HarperCollins, where they had to figure out what do with it.

This book was supposed to be out ages ago. I contacted publicists for HarperCollins and Reganbooks several times last year to get an advance copy for review and could not get a straight answer out of them other than that the book had been delayed.

The L.A. House was delayed even before Regan lost her job. I think this book got lost in the shuffle when Regan moved her offices from NYC to LA.

It will be interesting to see what kind of book ends up being released. I feel sorry for Ruthie because a.) Judith is a total bitch to work with and b.) I’m sure that this project got passed around a lot.”

So… we shall see. I really can’t wait, I hope they hurry up. :)

An email to Ruthie’s via her website went unreturned when I tried to get a publish date.

I just want to fly to L.A., knock on that red door and be invited in to read scripts all afternoon. Oh, and I’d sneak into the kitchen to catch CNN and have a yogurt.

just got it in brooklyn at b&n. it’s her office, not her home. she has business partners and it shows their entire business space, located in a Victorian building.

only flipped through but my impression is that it’s a “toothsome” issue – meaning it’s so full of good stuff i need a toothpick.

Thanks for the sneakie peakie Holly!

    Totally dig the office.

does anyone know if domino is out yet or is it coming out next week? i’m a little confused due to all of this DREW B pre-publicity!

I have to have this issue! I also love Drew, especially for what she has been through and still rising above it! Her life now is my dream! Having her film production house!
