Fokus Fabrik {organic textiles}

Fokus Fabrik is Finnish textile design team Tiia Eronen, Eeva Heikkinen, Laura J?rvel?inen, and Hanna Kerman, due to launch their collection of modern fabrics made from organic cotton and hemp at the upcoming Salone Internazionale del Mobile in Milan and at Hardcore – New Finnish Design in New York where 20 individual design projects and concepts from Finland will present at 413 W 14th Street in NYC from May 16-18th (more information here).

Inspired by both urban landscapes and natural settings, their colorful prints aren’t what you’d expect to see when you think of ‘organic’ proving designers need not compromise style to produce eco-friendly textiles. I like their approach to design found here in their bio, “The designers’ ambition is to push the boundaries of contemporary design and textiles whether the boundaries are aesthetic, ecological, or artistic.”
