Remember how I told you about Oscar the vintage umbrella stand that I won last week on eBay? He just flew in today. I can’t believe it. Just look at this cuteness.
He exceeds my expectations in every way imaginable. He is shown here on my credenza because the wall in my little entryway is white so his details do not show as well in a photo taken there.
I placed alongside him some owl cups that are the height of standard tea cups to give you an idea of how very large and proud this boy really is. Look at those wings and that little flip in the back. Total cuteness. Some of you asked how much I paid for him, he was $154 shipped and insured. I found something else like it on eBay for those of you interested… Or here at Tonic Home.

Aw, he is wonderful! I love owls (and have a bit of a vintage trifari owl necklace collection)… Those little owl cups from Anthropologie called out to me every time I went in for months, but I never bought them.

April 7th, 2008 at 11:02 pm
oh, i love that!!
i’m curious as to who made the little painting?
April 7th, 2008 at 11:41 pm
The painting is from a NH artist I know, but she doesn’t sell these little works any longer — she only sells larger works through a gallery in Boston.

Sooo cute! And is perfect against your wall color!

I’m dying out of frustration out here. Not only I won’t be able to find such a perfect piece in a long time ( but I will look for it). But also my husband will never ever let me put a cute Bambi on his paintings.
Haw, cruel world.
Is there is any annotation of the brand or artist whom made such a cute owl? I’m quite curious about it.

He’s wonderful! And you know how fond I am of the name Oscar for an owl :)
I also just ordered an owl teacup from Anthropologie, inspired by yours and I can’t wait for it’s arrival. Can we really ever grow tired of owls? I think not!
April 8th, 2008 at 2:22 pm
Marisa — THAT is funny. I never even thought about your paintings when I named him. I am just very fond on the names Oscar and Sebastian. Oscar because of Oscar Wilde, someone I’ve loved since I was a young teen and Sebastian after Bach and also after Belle & Sebastian, a band that I really loved back in the 90′s. But that is a great coincidence so now I’m even happier because I can look at him each day and think of you too!

I feel a little out of touch, because I must admit I am not into the whole cuteness thing, especially when it comes to birds and deers. But I do find it interesting that both you and Nicole from Making it Lovely posted about owls today.
Holly, even though we have very different taste, I still find your blog so inpiring. I’m almost afraid to read your next entry about can you have too much inspiration. I’ve had to take a little break of late because I get over-stimulated so easily these days.
