Denyse Schmidt has done it again! This time she has launched Country Fair, a new fabric that is heavier than usual for decorating projects at home such as pillows and chair covers. Her fresh new take on vintage patterns are bright and sassy with a definite country vibe, printed on 54? wide 100% cotton canvas making them both durable and beautiful in florals and prints so tiny that they almost look like a solid.

The County Fair collection also includes a ?cheater? print, Patchwork Promenade (shown above), that has six “pieced” 18″ square blocks that are ready for stitching and quilting projects. It is printed in a 36″ x 54″ repeat appearing as pieced which saves time for modern, busy crafters.

This collection is priced at around $18/yard so it’s super affordable and will be available at stores nationwide in June, for a complete stocklist click here.

She recently released a new quilting pattern called Single Girl. I love the meaning behind it. It’s her witty take on the traditional double wedding ring pattern — only a single ring pattern. It’s cool to be single and there should be a quilt celebrating it, right!?
Psst: Attending the Portland, Oregon Quilt Market? You can meet Denyse (5/16) and preview her new fabric collection in FreeSpirit’s booth (#1802-1824) May 16 – May 18. Denyse will be in the booth May 16th.

Love the prints, but when did $18/yard become “super affordable”?
May 8th, 2008 at 9:17 pm
Anon – You’re right, I guess everyone is different. Since this is upholstery weight fabric, $18/yard is super affordable for a ‘designer’ fabric, at least to me because most of what I find (and love) is well over $50/yard — most of it over $100/yard.

I love these fabrics!
$18 is VERY average for upholstery fabric. That’s about what I spend when I am looking.

I love patchwork. To make patchwork and to have patchwork too.

I wish I had a porch so I could have a modern crazy quilt porch swing like that. I love the updated traditional quilts. It’s what I like to call “Cozy Modern”.
