Amsterdam Meet and Greet: September 5th!

Hi everyone! It’s me Holly checking in to say hello and to ask for a small favor. On Friday, September 5th I will be in Amsterdam and some of my online friends and fellow design bloggers will meet with me there for the evening to relax, have a few drinks, and to simply meet face-to-face and establish new contacts. I’ve had a terrific response by many who would like to attend, so I’m investigating possible places to host a small group for a few hours (after dinner, between 8-10 PM).

A cafe is fine, or even a small retail shop or gallery space, but since I’m not familiar with Amsterdam at all I’d greatly appreciate suggestions if you have them. My hotel is in the center of Amsterdam near the Singel Gracht and the floating flower market, so nearby to this location is preferred (or at least a short train ride away, also fine).

You can comment below with your tips or contact me directly here.? And if you are in Amsterdam on September 5th, set some time aside to join us. All are welcome to attend – ladies and gents! Once a location is confirmed, I will post details on decor8 so stay tuned if you are planning to join us.

Thank you friends! :)

That sounds really fun – I hope you have a good time! I was just there in July and it was raining a lot – keep an umbrella with you!! ;)

I’ll be coming in from The Hague (can’t wait!) and would appreciate any recommendations from Decor8 readers on a place to stay–something clean, moderately priced and near the neighborhood Holly mentioned. Thanks!

I don’t live in Amsterdam, so even though I would love to, I wouldn’t be able to help you search for a place, but I just wanted to say that it’s great that bloggers meet outside of the cyberspace, I am quite new to this, and I am glad to find so much fun stuff and people with good taste…

i was just there last month and we stayed at the hotel pulitzer: http://www.starwoodhotels.com/luxury/property/overview/index.html?propertyID=100

they have several different seating spaces — a bar with comfy loungey seating (that was never too busy) and even super casual tables outside in the middle of the hotel.

plus, i believe it’s pretty central (overlooking the prinsengracht and keizersgracht canals), so that might be an option…

wish i could make it, but i’ll be in tokyo then! have fun and please post pics!

I’m truly bummed I won’t be able to make it on the 5th. I would be so thrilled to meet with you, but now that you’re on my side of the world- perhaps we could do something similar here in Germany. Maybe we could meet at one of the awesome wine fests coming up. Bern Kastel-Kues is a personal favorite.

Let me know if you’re interested in something like that

Stacy — Are you near Berlin at all? I’m giving a lecture on blogging and hosting an event with Dawanda on Sat., September 20. My lecture is at 1:30. You should try to attend, I would really like to meet you! The event is free and we will have cupcakes and coffee, a few sellers offering indie goods, and two speakers — one in English (me) and another who will speak in German about her blog.

I’ll be posting more information here on decor8 in the next week or so.

    Holly,

I’d love to meet you too! I would come in a second but I’ll be back in the States on business (same reason I can’t make Amsterdam) I’ll be back in Germany around the 28th. Please keep me posted if you do any other lectures. It kills me that now that you are here I will be moving stateside next Spring. Still, I’d like to make the transition to a full-time blogger (who earns at least some sort of living doing so). I’m developing a new site but have a blog up and running in the meantime. I’d love to hear you speak, your advice would be priceless. Let’s keep in touch, maybe one day our schedules will sync up.

    hi,
de-lurking to suggest “de jaren” http://www.diningcity.nl/cafedejaren/ – it a nice big “grand cafe” style place.
this is also where the amsterdam craft/knitting people meet up.

De Jaren was also my first thought! Great space, great location, great snacks/drinks. Could be an ideal choice…
