I’m absolutely obsessed with Moroccan teapots right now. I only need one, but it has to be just perfect and Danielle has a lovely one in her shop that I’m awaiting answer on to see if it is still available. I have to have a teapot like this, I just love it. I’ve been looking for one locally since the day my plane landed, I even scoured Amsterdam and Hamburg for one and nothing! I cannot stop fantasizing about serving tea on Sunday with a pot such as this one… Of course this is one of maybe 10 things I’m going mad about right now (another is finding the perfect pair of deep plum leather boots).
I know, I’m crazy… But I have these obsessions that hit suddenly where I feel this pulse shoot through me and I know I just HAVE TO HAVE the object of my desire and I will peel back every layer, search high and low, shop! shop! shop! until I locate said item. The only difference between these obsessions in my thirties vs. the ones I had in my twenties is that back then I just purchased it and gave in to right away. Now I shop around and try to find the best price and give myself several weeks to mull something over before I realize that I should in fact buy it because it’s not another nutty impulse purchase.
It’s a sickness, I know. I’m willing to bet you have it to. So tell me, what’s your latest obsession/s? It can be anything really, but let’s try to definitely keep it in the home, garden, and fashion category so if you are obsessing over something then perhaps another reader knows where you can find it and can help out. It’s okay if you want to veer off a little though and post other things that you are obsessing over now.
My current obsessions:
1. Moroccan tea pots and throw rugs (see #4).
2. Colors: Plum, Lilac, Fuchsia, Silver, Black, White, Golden Yellow, Gray (esp. on walls or velvet throws), Soft Green.
3. Textures/fabric: Raw silk, Crochet, Linen, Felt, Wool, Knit, Basket weave, Sisal, Rope, Quilted anything.
4. Motifs/Prints/Etc: Elephants, Circles, Doilies, Batik prints, stripes, lace (used in a very modern way), black ornate birdcages, vintage Persian rugs (flat weave) in all of my favorite colors (something very colorful and loud!). Vintage cabinets painted in high gloss black with white interior shelving, or painted high gloss white with fun ceramic knobs, hand painted accents, and decorative paper inside.
5. Metal: Hammered or embossed tin or silver. Especially pendant lights, tea trays, storage boxes, bowls, and tea pots. Also decorative tea tins…
6. Plum leather boots (no heel).
7. My new lilac/white bowls from TineK (see below photo). At $30 each I only could afford two right now! Ha! I also love my new lilac bowls from Rice (also in photo). I’m mixing these together to work with the white and pale turquoise plates I picked up at IKEA.
8. Jewelry by Arena Copenhagen and the Ellie necklace by Acts of Kindness.
9. Random: Pink chalk love notes on my chalkboard, white matte porcelain from the 1950s, my mom (I miss her), a black puppy named Sulu that I met in the city yesterday, she wouldn’t stop nuzzling my trousers like a cat! I wanted to take her home so bad…
10. Style: Ethnic Bohemian Modern. That’s what I call it anyway. Others may call it Crazy Lady All Over The Place Style.
There is more… But I’ll stop with what first came to mind…
I can’t wait to see what you have to say! Comment below with your list if you feel like it, I am interested to see if we share any common loves!

That’s a long list :) , although all lovely things that are justified of being obsessed about!
my list is:
1. anything printed on recycled brown paper, notebooks, diaries, address books… I recently bought 5 note books A6 to A4 sized and have only used one so far, I’m struggling with what to use them for!
2. graphic prints: all colour & sizes,
3. any stationery with patterns on, don’t actually need them but just go to have them all! (going a bit crazy…)
4. vintage posters like the “keep calm and carry on” ones
5. square faced cats
(obsessed with this website http://www.sakurakodiary.com/)
6. antique silver decorations like jewellery box, picture frame, candle holders etc.
7. a holiday with some sunshine as we’ve had none this summer in UK!

Wow…so many obsession’s to choose from! And in no particular order….
1. Decorating magazine’s…..most notably, Domino , and Wish (Canadian Magazine)…I subscribe to the later, but I’m attacking the mailbox practically daily awaiting the next issue…not only is it a shopping magazine for home decor, but for fashion as well.
2. Purple….i’ve noticed purple everywhere this season, and am dying to get my hand’s on some purple home accessories to shock/compliment my blue/green accessories….but my husband keep’s seeing Prince, a la Purple Rain purple. I may just have to go out and get something so he doesn’t think i’m going to turn into Apolonia. :-)
3. White Kitchen and Bathroom’s. I’m starting to build quite a large collection of photo’s, there’s just nothing like it. Not sure why, but a white kitchen/bathroom is just so serene to me. Not to mention it makes your food look really colourful as well since it’s not competing with another colour
4. Furniture for sale section of Craigslist – i cannot wait to move into a bigger place this winter so I can start buying some amazing 2nd hand furniture and refinish/repaint to my hearts content !!!
5. Babushka prints/motifs – I am of Ukranian decent, so seeing the babushka prints over the past year is absolutely adorable
I’m sure once we move, i’ll have LOTS more, but until that time, that’s all i’m allowed!!! I have barely the space to breath in our tiny 700 sq foot condo !

So my “home”-obsessions at the moment are:
a) A deep wish to declutter my home, let go of a lot of stuff and “purify” my place, though this is something i do on regular basis, but i feel i still keep too much things i don’t really need or use on a regular basis.
b) White, caf? latte, brown: i’m currently pulling together my living room with these colors
c) A L-shaped leather sofa where i could cuddle up with my cats and bf, seen in a local shop here. This has to wait, though, finances oblige….
d) Scented candles

Please let me know if you find some boots! I’m searching for those too. I’m starting to think I’ll have to settle for navy.
My recent obsessions (it’ll get quite boring if I listed the permanent ones) include ;
- ‘The Book of Lost Things’ by John Connolly – A.MAZ.ING
- ‘The Zodiac’ film – gorgeous cinematography
- Rob Ryan
- Innocent Veg Pots
- Text as image
- Elephants
- Snails (for looking at, not eating!)
- Vintage food – like Tunnock’s Tea Cakes, mmmm
- Laura Marling’s album ‘Alas I Cannot Swim’. Beautiful.
- Purple
- Handwriting and calligraphy
- Sideboards

Right now I waste all of my time obsessing over things and searching ebay, etsy and RubyLane simultaneously for them.
1. Chunky gold chain bracelets, preferably mesh or multiple strand (oh… and VINTAGE!)
2. anything with tassels! I can’t get enough tassels. On jewelry, on pillows, towels, blankets… I even bought a vintage chandelier that had a tassel as the pull to turn it on (unfortunately it broke in the mail)
3. pink for the home. I don’t know why. Just pink. And lots of it!
4. Lilac for scarves or clothing. I recently decided this would be a good color for me and I don’t have any of it.
5. Kilims, preferably vintage, with pinks and reds that I can put on top of my huge beigey west elm rug.
6. Vintage oil paintings of ships or the sea.
7. Chandeliers. I am trying to replace all of my existing lighting with a mixture of modern and vintage chandeliers.
8. Paint. I am going to be painting every room of my place one by one so I have been milling over hundreds of colors!
9. Vintage coffee carafe (the glass ones with gold detail)
September 25th, 2008 at 8:59 am
oh, and wallpaper! I want to use it so bad but I am scared to commit!
September 25th, 2008 at 9:05 am
Currently my list is:
1. The new Amy Butler Dishes….gotta have them!
2. Ruffle shirts, like the one on Michelle loves from Forever 21!
3. The color orange!
4. Quiet mornings.
Thanks for sharing your list. As always it gives me time to reflect as well. You have a wonderful way with words.

That is one gorgeous teapot. Of course you’re going to get some of those nice tea glasses. I find that tea tastes so much better in those. As for my obsessions..
Purple!!! It’s everywhere and I love it!!!
I’m also obsessing over letters and type of any kind. Especially large vintage tin letters from signs. I’ve even been putting it in my work lately.

Ha, I’m on board with a lot of those, especially golden yellow and grey… The mention of elephants reminded me that I got THE CUTEST TRAY EVER at Ikea a week or two ago–I haven’t seen it anywhere in a photo, but it’s printed with a darling elephant print in turquoise, yellow, etc. It’s soooo cute and was about $8. I’ll go look for a picture.

I really shouldn’t be thinking of my obessions since I am on a 2 week challenge not to spend any money. But what I am currently obessing about it is.
1. flats- especially in fall colors of orange, reds and yellows. I saw some great one in the JCrew catalog this week. I don’t know if I am bold enough to wear bright orange but I think I could do it.
2. Rain boots- I think I have a shoe obession. I have hot pink rain boots, I got from Target in the spring, but I am thinking of getting a few more pairs when I go visit my boyfriend in England.
3. Zoo animals- my skeatch book latelty has been filled with all my safari friends. I think it brings me back to my childhood, when I lived next to a zoo.
4.Willow trees- Everyday I walk through the park, which has a dozen or so willow trees and I stop and stare at them. I think they are my favorite tree. They seem so light in the way they move, but they are so grand.

Trippen.com has cool boots. One pair is a flat, plum colour.
arche-shoes. fr. has purple boots but the site is hard to manage. Both these suggestions are rather expensive.
jestelkg.com has birkenstocks ie. flat boots. None are purple but they are a nice product.

I love sharing obsessions! It’s such a healthy way to find new things to obsess over as well.
1. Orange day planners. Just bought one for the academic year.
2. Orange, grey, royal blue, gold, fuchsia, white and brown as a pair
3. Elephants! (I’m truly obsessed) Hindu Gods and Goddesses, gold coins
4. Darjeeling loose leaf tea
5. My new Hermes lily pad tea cups from Ebay
6. Gold Indian bangles, pearls
7. My trip of white ceramic elephants from a charity shop
8. 1920s style outfits, high waisted linen trousers and silk tops, plaid scarves, silk scarves, silk slips, leggings and oversized sweaters, all black outfits during winter.

I have a real moroccan teapot, that was given to me by a lovely moroccan family that lives near to us. The couple has 5 adorable children and often we give them clothes or toys or anything that can help manage such a big family. The teapot is not as fancy as the ones in your pictures, but it was given to me and my husband with an addition of love and gratitude, and with a package of real moroccan tea and fresh mint to prepare it properly.
Love is my personal obsession, it gives meaning to anything you can own, don’t you think?

I feel like everyone on here is talking about me!! I’ll try not to repeat too much and I’ll try to keep it brief. I could go on for pages and pages…
-ELEPHANTS! I love everything elephant. And I am totally lusting after that tray you got Kate F!!
-Blue, Green and Grey. Pretty much everything I own is some shade of blue or green, though I will admit, I am recently gravitating towards purples.
-Silver. Picture frames, mirrors, (loving the teapot you’re looking at), jewelry, and I’ve been looking for a cute silver pair of flats…
-Vintage plates with flowers or windmills. There’s a blue dutch windmill pattern that I absolutely *love*.
-Time for all the projects I want to tackle!
I’ll stop there. I recently was given a small 1950s-ish set of table and chairs that are a gorgeous yellow, but I need to test them for lead and I’ll probably have to completely strip them which makes me sad… But I think I’m going to look for a yellow to match what they are now, just need the time to do it!

I LOVE your blog! Definitely ethnic bohemian modern. I have had an obsession with Indian/Moroccan furniture and home accessories since I got my first place in college 14 years ago (gasp). I still obsess over Indian furniture although I have no space to spare. I seriously need to de-clutter my space. I keep thinking maybe if I find the perfect piece, I will make room… lol. I am constantly online looking at websites and trying to find locations near my place in downtown Los Angeles especially for warehouses that occasionally open to the public… I know what it’s like to obsess. Right now, I am pining for an Indian whitewashed storage piece or possibly an Indian floor length mirror, and I am always open to Indian pieces with greenish/turquoise tints. Since I moved into a loft last year, I have been trying to mix my Indian and Moroccan pieces with modern pieces (mainly smaller Mid-century pieces) … ethnic bohemian modern/industrial chic (lockers, lamps, utility carts, tolix chairs/stools). At the moment, I am so pining white saarinen tulip chairs and a nice nickle industrial looking fan/light. Also, I am open to ideas for ceiling lighting! What else… I collect Indian floral iron pots, pretty floral Indian boxes, Italian pewter dishware/serveware, mercury glass, and white/cream le creuset pots.
September 25th, 2008 at 10:06 am
Oh! Fun! As someone with a new house that needs furnishing… I’m obsessed with a lot.
- Lamps. The Jonathan Adler Giraffe lamp is quite possibly the lamp of my dreams, but I can’t afford it. I want to find less expensive lamps with a similar level of character. It’s dark in here!
- A patterned rug, particularly one with a Moroccan feel, that contains ochre/sepia/burgundy. The tricky part is that it has to be 5 ft. round. I’m not holding my breath.
- Succulents. Fat, plump, juicy leaves of all different shapes arranged in little gardens on the window sill.
- furniture made from big, sturdy, rough planks, or chunks of wood. With a barn-y feel.
- White vases, all different shapes, textures, sizes.
- Window seats, big ones, with lots of cushions and blankets.

I am so inspired reading other’s obsessions. My current obsessions include……
~ a capriz pendant light for over my soaking tub, the final piece for my mermaid inspired turquoise and white bathroom
~ driftwood, I adore the texture and the shape of each piece.
~ a gorgeous pair of dark teal candlesticks, made from salvaged wood, I can’t really justify buying them, so I obsess. Then one day I will go back to the store and viola! they will be gone.
~ the end of summer, I cram so much into each day while the weather is still warm, wishing it would last longer.
September 25th, 2008 at 10:13 am
Ahhh….lists….I LOVE them so much! Why do we love them so much?
I am currently obsessing over:
~your lilac and white bowls!!
~ this all glass chandelier I saw in the latest pottery barn catalog
~ any shoes by chie mihara(will never be able to get but, still OBSESSED)
~a new grey velvet sectional from C & B

2. ditto the yellow and gray – I just painted my dining room yellow & hung long gray velvet drapes, which looks awesome with the white and wood accents & furniture
3. scarlet red and ivory – funny you mention elephants cuz I’m taking a plain, old & worn ivory pillow and stitching a red elephant outline on it
4. laboratory-inspired pieces for home – like CB2′s alchemy stool (or like the old metal test tube rack I rescued from the trash at work and now use to put candles or class test tubes with single flower stems in ‘em)
5. fall!! a warm, cozy cup of coffee with a dash of cinnamon; a soft blanket; my huge cuddly mastiff, Zoey – perfect for the front porch right now…

I’m so with Jany. I’m obsessed with decluttering right now. I’m also into those same colors she’s into. Out of necessity and because I like them. Funny, I was just thinking about my color combination love last night.
I collect masks when I travel. I have about 6 right now. I don’t buy them locally, and I only buy masks that are symbolic of the place where I’m visiting. Anyway, I want more masks. I think it’s because I need a vacation though.
Because of my decluttering, I’m obsessed with drawers. I realize that I do not have enough in my house. I have 3 in the kitchen and two in the bedroom. Seriously. I need more places to put some things. If I think about it, I also don’t have counter space. I have no shelves, no coffee table…
I’m obsessed with funky alphabet posters in different languages.
I’m on the lookout for great curtains, or wall covering solutions of any kind.

1) new Amy Butler dishes – but just the serveware and teapot for some reason.
2) round pillows. mainly b/c i can’t find any and really want some on my couch!
3) egg cozies – b/c my morning eggs are cold and they need something cute to keep them warm. There are lots of cute ones out there, but gosh they cute ones come at a price!
4) winter plants – stuff to plant that will survive the winter while making the house look spiffy, cool looking evergreens, etc. we just decked out our 2 balconies and I’m so thrilled. I wish we could plunk down the cash and do the yards too!

ooo this is fun!
1) PATTERN! there are so many fantastic patterns out there these days, its so refreshing and inspiring. I want to add little subtle patterning to even the most unlikely objects, like dressers and floors.
2) TEXTURE! very similarly to patterning, I love the way a room’s style can emerge with just a few different textures. I also REALLY enjoy mixing modern textures and materials on vintage furniture.
3) METALICS! I want everything to be shiny :)
4) ARTISAN anything. I love having completely unique things and the vibe and energy handmade things possess. America has been so dull, packaged and mass produced. I’m so excited to see the handmade revolution taking such strong hold!

Hmmm, this was a hard one as I tend to obsess over LOTS of things, but I tried to narrow it down to a short list… interesting to see that there are lots of similarities on here between everyone else’s lists :)
- the colours yellow, grey and purple (together and seperately)
- vintage chandeliers (not just chandeliers themselves, but anything with a chandelier motif)
- notebooks/journals/agenda planners with patterned paper (I have enough to last me a lifetime but still keep buying them with the idea to give them away as gifts… but I can’t bear to part with them)
- owls (I know, I know, everyone is sick of them, but I’ve loved them my whole life so I can’t stop now!)
- “through the viewfinder” photography (I always obsessed over those “ViewMaster” toys as a child, so I guess this is the grown-up version for me)
- purses, purses, purses! (I can’t ever have enough)
- pumpkin spiced anything

Wow! My obsession is antiquing. I get up at ungodly hours to get in line first at the openings of the antique shows at Brimfield and elsewhere. I go to estate sales and yard sales wherever I am. Attend every auction within 50 miles of my home and watch every episode of “the roadshow.” I’m even spending my winter vacation this year on this crazy antiquing trip to Europe. The group goes to antiques shows in three countries and hardly stops to play tourist. Check out their website: http://www.EuropeAntiqueTrip.com If it wasn’t for my boyfriend who shares the same affliction I wouldn’t have a life at all. At least we keep the antique collection in one special room (museum) and the rest of the house looks like we actually decorated it. Felicia

I love this post!!
Everyone’s passion and dare I say ‘craziness’ has been unlocked and safely revealed within the safe and padded corners of Decor8. It is great to find so many like minded people! noone understands my ever changing weekly obsessions… my (non-designer) friends smile politely, my partner is consistently shaking his head and my family are just plain baffled when I launch into a tirade of what I have found, what I am going to do with it and how good it will look – all the while gleefully running around clapping my hands together of course!
I do agree though that it is a sweet deal to wait out the initial buzz and embark on the journey that will see you uncovering the perfect treasure or buy as opposed to buying on impulse for a cheap thrill… it can be so hard though!!!
My current obsessions
- Fresh air, sunshine & exercise, it has just come into spring over here! feeling motivated
- sunday morning breakfast
- the perfect coffee and more importantly finding vintage nick knacks to beautify my tea/coffee corner.
- polaroid photography of one blue wren – BEAUTIFUL!
- vintage cutlery – one day I will have the perfect set! (it is a work in progress)
- a pretty & practical work apron
- Jennifer Causey – her Simply Breakfast blog and postcards (currently in the post and on their way to my doorstep!)
- lino carving & printing
- Volume 4 of Lines and Shapes – would make a great coffee table book!

Have you tried Googling Moroccan teapots or for Moroccan hookahs? I mention hookahs because many of the sites that sell Moroccan ones sell teapots, furniture, and lanterns. When I was looking for pouffes I found a few really good, decent priced sites for goodies on my first google page. I did look at teapots at the same time, but don’t recollect seeing any round ones with a flat bottom…
That does bring me to one of the things I have been obsessing over a bit.. well, a bit actually meaning quite a lot since Le Souk was originally posted on here.. Moroccan pouffes and wedding blankets. I’ve been looking for about 4 or 5 months now.. I really want a round white/off white pouffe and would quite fancy a soft pink wedding blanket (pouffe moreso). I feel a bit like a cheapy, but I’m working two jobs just to make ends meet, so I only want to pay no more than around $100. $75 being ideal.. Ebay never has them though.
With that I’m also obsessing over a white Eames lounger and light blue Eames Rocker. Moreso the lounger. I feel very guilty, because I always believe in supporting designers, but if I get one any time soon it’ll be a knockoff. I lie and tell myself “Well, I’m supporting the design!” but I still feel a bit bad. One day I will get a real one, but for now I’ll probally need to settle for a fake…
Since working at Debenhams I’ve been obsessing over a red Orla Keily bag.. it’s 109 pounds though, but would love it for my laptop since I think it’s the right size.. the bag I made myself for my laptop just doesn’t protect it well enough or have enough pockets.. but 109 quid? That’s $220 Canadian.. which is alot of money.
Oh, and Russian nesting dolls. I really want a cute big one. My Mum got me a tiny one (about an inch tall) with 5 dolls in it.. but I still want a big one. At around 20 pounds ($40) in John Lewis I feel quite hesitant.
I would also like a lomography or polaroid camera (one that prints out the photos right away) but again, money is currently an object. Boo.
I could probally babble for awhile.. I love moroccan things.. I recently bought a large round brass tea table with a stand for 75 pounds, which, upon looking online, I found was a pretty good deal.
Yeah, that’s mostly it along with the usual suspects, vintage furniture with tapered pin legs (okay, vintage everything), bright coloured tights, bright coloured faux pearl necklaces, everything with owls, everything Eleanor Grosch, just about everything from Urban Outfitters (I know, it’s silly, but the American site has beautiful furniture, and I drool over all of it and wish they’d ship to the UK, my new home).. milkglass ceramics.. tea, teacups, antiques and antique stores..
Awe, man, I was going to write something short here. Sorry guys.
@Terri: Wellies are big here in England. If you wait to come here, Primark sells them very cheap with a few patterns. You can get them anywhere, really. Zebra/white tiger print is very common.

I am obsessed with
Patchwork and quilting – have been for almost 20 years.
R.E.M. – I LOVE them – have done for almost (only) 5 years.
Laboratory bottles – have collected since I was a teenager but have taken it up again seriously this past year.
These vases http://www.skovsantiques.com/Lyngby%20vaser%20hvide%20riller.JPG the kind without motifs. This obession is quite recent – in fact it started a little over a week ago. I decided that I was going to collect them and before I knew it I had won five auctions and the first one should arrive by mail tomorrow. I’m so excited. :-)
I can’t say that I’m obsessed with TineK but I have recently discovered that she’s not so bad. Here’s a link to her website where yu can download her catalogue with pictures from her own home: http://www.tinekhome.dk/www/index.htm
I have also become obsessed with knitting again. I used to knit many years ago but patchwork and quilting took over. These past 3-4 years my love of knitting has returned. Ravelry – http://www.ravelry.com/ – is a wonderful place.
Oh and flowers. And decorating of course. And geraniums!
And I suppose I’m also obsessed with the Internet, blogs and my computer. I’m certainly very much in love with my laptop. ;-)
