Toast {and Happy Weekend!}

My copy of the winter Toast catalog arrived today from England, I held it close to my nose and enjoyed the smell of it… sounds odd but I *love* new paper smell. It’s that thick heavyweight paper from Britain, vegetable-based inks, it has a very distinct odor. Have you ever picked up a copy of Selvedge magazine? It’s the same smell, the same chunky matte pages, it’s absolute heaven. Do you also appreciate paper a little too much?

It came at the perfect time too as I just returned home from a full day at a home/decorating/foodie fair (much sensory overload!). And then I attended a very nice wine tasting… so all I wanted was to come home to relax with hot Moroccan mint tea, my Candied Fruit candle from L’Occitane, good music, blog a little, and look at my Toast catalog.

I’m sitting here typing away on my laptop in my glowing apartment with Keane in background (Perfect Symmetry, I cannot stop listening to Love is the End & Spiralling (video here, is it all over the radio in America as it is here?). As I’m writing to you I see my copy of Toast waiting nearby to be enjoyed once I’ve finished wishing you a very happy weekend. I flipped through it quickly and adore everything inside, products look so cosy… Just the way I want to feel right now. I must share with you some images from it.

Wishing you all a toasty weekend, I hope you enjoy every drop of your time and that you do something to show yourself that you cherish who you are this weekend. A bubble bath, a bouquet of flowers, lunch with your best friend, collecting chestnuts in the park… enjoy life and the simple pleasures…

On my reading list this weekend:

- Toast (looking, not reading)
- Meine Sommernachtstr?ume
- home sweet home: So will ich wohnen!
- New Moon (hopefully finish a few more chapters).

Watching list:

- Liebe um jeden Preis (in French with Amelie’s own Audrey Tatou watch the trailer here)
- Kein Ohr Hasen (German with English subtitles or else I’d be lost!)
- Justin Timberlake Live at Madison Square Garden (I like his music, I just picked it up on Amazon and cannot wait to watch it with my girlfriends!)

Doing list:

- paint 4 dining room chairs white
- reupholster them with new striped fabric
- go to the flea market
- have dinner with friends on Saturday
- play with my friends baby
- walk in the forest on Sunday
- candlelight bath with Sabon bath ball, Blonde Redhead, and John Mayer on Sunday night
- a glass of port
- maybe two.

What’s on YOUR list? Write it here today and come back on Monday morning to this same post to report it on what you ACTUALLY did do. Yes, I’m holding you accountable. Together we can do great things, I believe in group support (and therapy he he) so by all means, use this as your space to commit to something you want to do this weekend! I’ll do the same, deal?

Psst: You can view more cozy images from the Toast catalog here.

    To do this weekend:
Finish my Halloween costume and purchase scary makeup to go with it (eep!) . . . learn to change the DNS servers of my domain names so I don’t have to call tech support every time I need to do it . . . see friends in town from Ohio and Califormia . . . get lots of sleep . . . and block out the pattern of a skirt I’m patterning myself. Plus a couple of secret researchy-type things that I want to finish before I present them to anyone. ;-)

I love your blog, by the way. Great stuff! :-D

This is going to be a busy weekend for me, and, by the way, this is my first time posting to a blog, any blog.

Going to help daughter and family move..I don’t carry boxes, but I watch the children, keep them out of the way, and offer me and my PT Cruiser, for packing delicate items in, believe me it holds a lot of “stuff”.
I once had a 17cu ft fridge, a lawn mower and an outdoor utility shed, in it at one time. And all the doors closed. :)

Then when I do get home, it’s on the computer, to check out my shop, and if i’m not to tired, photograph some more beauties to be listed. My hands are crying to make some prayer beads, but just can’t find the time needed to relax and create.

I love your blog, first time here! It is so informing, and you cover many topics. It’s very colorful as well.

Well, drinking my last bit of coffee, pull myself together, and off to my daughters…oh what fun!!!!! All the while hoping i get home, and relaxed enough, in time to do something fun, in my shop, or on the creative side. Or maybe kickback and read the new book I just got from Amazon.

Oh and I love the smell of good paper too, (new books, love it), and new shoes. My sisters and I used to sleep with our new shoes for a couple of nights. Go figure!! (We didn’t get them very often, maybe that’s why we “protected” them). I promise I don’t do that anymore. :)

    Have a good weekend all.
    Peace, Gypsywoman…Jean

-work on my dad’s family book (have to be finished by Christmas when I visit!!!)

-finish some crochet items i began (coffee press cozy, tea pot cozy, and a cover for my bed!)

It’s now Monday here in Hawaii and I have to say that making a list during the weekend really helped. I felt satisfied that I accomplished set tasks at the end of the day! It’s a great start towards 2009!

Holly, I honestly don’t like lists on the weekends. I feel really rushed if I have one, but then if I don’t have one I get lazy and sit around the house and do nothing. Maybe this “Happy Weekend” post should become a regular for a while to get your readers more motivated.

I can’t believe how much you accomplished in two days! It would take me several weekends to do all that you have done. Of course, it would help if I didn’t sleep so late!

Though the week-end is long gone and I am already looking forward to the next one… I am wondering whether you found some time to watch the Keinohrhasen movie? Did you like it? It’s one of my favorite films of this year!
