H&M Home Collection {New!}

Frida from Husmusen told me last week that Swedish apparel giant H&M (Hennes & Mauritz) will soon launch a home line (window coverings, comforters, sheets, pillows, towels and accessories) due to an large demand for home textiles from their customers. The collection will include several items grouped by theme, here are a few that the lovely Frida has grouped together for a quick peek:

Nature (love those button cushions!)

Design (bold graphics, black and white)

Bright Colors (featuring work from Liselotte Watkins, blogged here before)

and Classic (Marine blue, “New England style”)

These collections will start to sell online in February 2009, but not in America, only in Germany, Austria, Netherlands and Nordic countries. They want to start selling online and through catalogs first to see how things go and then see what they want to do from there. Perhaps America could be next? Stay tuned!

Out of the collections shown above, do you have a favorite? Why? Anything that you’d like to see that is currently missing when it comes to affordable home items? I think the world could use more of a selection when it comes to shower curtains and affordable patterned curtains personally.

H&M’s COS range is already available in some European cities and has been for over a year. (debut in March 07) For a full list of stores go to http://www.cosstores.com/ There’s even one in Hamburg if you are interested!!

The clothes are lovely and not too expensive, but obviously not as cheap as the H&M stores.

I love the nature and the bright colors best. Nature because I’m kind of a natural girl and have been longing to redo my bathroom in shades of cream with lots of texture. The bright colors because they look so cheerful and lively!

Hi Holly, I just discovered your blogs this past week and I love them. Haus Maus especially, since I moved to Germany three years ago after having lived in the States for the past 13 years. It really strikes a cord with me. As far as the new H&M collection goes, I really like the Nature and the Design themes and look forward to having a closer look once they hit the online store.

love those button cushions and the natural bags! And I agree with the shower curtain comment. I ended up making my own out of a table cloth I found, there are plenty cute ones out there but just so expensive!

I’m kind of drawn to the Design collection, even though it wouldn’t match any room in my house. You know what I’d like more of? Door mats! I had such trouble finding a door mat that I really loved.

Hi, Holly. I’m new to decor8 but already adore it — and have spent far too much time checking out the archives :)

I love the Nature collection, especially those button cushions. I have a patchwork quilt over my couch that would look great behind them.

Come to Canada, H&M home fashions….

I think each of the collections have their merits, but I’m personally drawn to the Classic, maritime look.

    Holly,

Did you post this Classic Marine blue collection for me personally? This is amazing. You know how much I love nautical…. I wonder how much their stuff will differ from IKEA, which also has that European influence?

Might be time for a trip to the Uk!?

I remember when H&M first came to New York – it was heaven! I would have been naked in college without that store. I always thought of it as the Ikea of clothes, so this makes total sense.
