Sunday Morning Inspiration

January 11, 2009

A little Sunday morning design inspiration for you… I rarely blog on a Sunday but my friend Emma posted about the lovely stylist Stephanie Hanes in NYC and I couldn’t resist peeking at her website as I’d not heard of her before. What terrific photos to enjoy over tea and French macaroons this morning (mine came from here). I couldn’t wait to share so here you go… A peek. Click here for more.

Now that I’ve enjoyed a little inspiration from Stephanie, I’m off to drool over the latest issue of Domino magazine with one of my favorite actresses on the cover, Zooey Deschanel (don’t you love her music?). While I usually don’t drool over celebrities on the cover of any magazine, I can deal with those I feel are from the more down-to-earth crop of celebs. The Drew Barrymore Zooey Deschanel types seem more accessible to me somehow. I’m hoping they’ll profile Zooey’s talented and lovely sister Emily in the future as I’m a huge Bones fan… Anyway, you can buy the she&him CD here on Amazon in case you’re interested in hearing Ms. Deschanel’s lovely voice…

By the way, is it only me or do you also think that the Deschanel girls and Katy Perry look totally related? Zooey is super talented so I just love seeing her in my favorite American design mag this month! For those of you without access to the print article, you can view her studio here on the Domino website.

And before I sign off today I must share with you a most unique present from Three Potato Four owners Janet & Stu. This is from a bottling company that went out of business awhile back… I’d never heard of it before but since their little girl is named Holly and they found two of these bottles, they surprised me with one. It really does say, “Refresh with Holly” and so this is something I’ll never part with – what a special gift! Thank you J&S!

Enjoy your cozy Sunday!

Rikkianne – If you are a Zooey fan, rent “Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy” and “Tin Man”. I really liked them both, they are Sci-Fi movies, Tin Man being on the Sci-Fi channel and now available on DVD. It’s a different take on the Wizard of Oz and very, very cute!

I agree! Zooey (and Emily) are two of my favorites. (I heart Squints!) I’ve been jamming out to She & Him on Pandora every since I heard they were at SxSW. I’m glad they’re getting some more love on the internet. :)

Zooey manages to catch the best of the quirky roles…did you see her in Failure to Launch? I think she and her counterpart (I always call him Riley, bc of National Treasure) totally stole the movie! I also loved Tin Man….anything to do with Oz and Wonderland…but what a great twist!

    I think Katy Perry is Zooey’s doppleganger-ha!

I love Zooey! Also on my beautiful singer-actress list is Emmy Rossum. I love the song “Slow Me Down.”

Zooey is awesome! I fell in love with her first when I watched Hitchhikers Guide for the Galaxy and have been in love since. I agree with Dee, she was awesome in Failure to Launch. I can’t wait to see her in Yes Man!

I’ve been rocking She&Him on my iPod for almost a year now it seems. I love the sound of their music, and how authentic it feels.

Stephanie’s work is inspired. Thanks for sharing her site! I also must thank you for educating me… I am a long-time fan of Zooey Deschanel and her music; but, I am also a devoted weekly viewer of Bones (and, therefore, obviously smitten by Emily Deschanel) and yet, had NO idea the two stunning, talented women were sisters! Until now. You made my whole day!

i was just catching up on my decor8 reading and noticed the target design event in your wist… just wanted to give you a heads up (if you didnt already know) the design event stuff is 30% off online + free shipping over $50!

i was there today debating over the HUGE sunflower mirror for $100 (kind of lotus-like and reminds me of nelson clocks) but didnt get it… then went home checked it out online for the actual measurements and saw its on sale plus free the shipping and ordered!

I absolutely adore Zooey, she was lovely in “Flakes”. She & Him are great as well, even though I don’t normally like that kind of music. Domino has the tendency to pick celebrities their readers can relate to, which makes almost every issue.

Ooh… the bottle! How cool it looks, and how friendly of the ThreePotatoFour people to give it to you!

funny – that film ‘Mumford’ was on HBO yesterday and Zoey looked like a baby in it! I think it was one of her first films. She looks a heck of a lot like my family actually and is a dead ringer for my niece.

I was just watching Katy Perry’s Hot and Cold video trying to remember who I thought she looked like… She and Zooey Deschanel definitely resemble each other. I am also convinced Rosemarie DeWitt (Rachel of “Rachel Getting Married”) very much resembles Mary Louise Parker!

PS – What an awesome bottle!
