Neighborhood, sharing, networking, hope, recycling, helping, taking a more proactive and less reactive approach, collaborating, showing kindness, cutting back materially but stocking up spiritually, a shift happening in the world… These are some pretty dominant ideas and feelings circulating out there right now. That is why We Are In This Together, a limited edition print by Lorena Siminovich at Petit Collage is such a beautiful thought for 2009 to remember and put into practice as we deal with others.
Beautiful thought, Lorena!
Would you like to comment on something that has shown you lately that we’re all in this together? Think hard, anything that comes to mind? Personal experiences in how we can apply We Are In This Together in our life? I’d love to get your thoughts on this topic. It’s important to think about.

*sigh* I just adore this print SO much…..and believe in it 100%. I guess I try to live every day with this in mind….feeling like how I treat others effects everyone. Spread some kindness and good will and then maybe that person will have a better day and spread some kindness and good will as well. That is my hope…

i love the collage look of this print.
i think a great example would be january 20, when president obama was inaugurated. seeing the sea of people in washington dc, that was seriously a historic moment!

i realize that we are in this together when i am feeling down and only a human voice (a nice one of course) can cheer me up. nothing replaces the human touch and spirit.

I *LOVE* her stuff. Collages are just my kinda thing. I want to decorate a way-far-in-the-future baby’s room with her birds and trees.

This print took my breath away. I love it and it is the exact message that I am trying to convey in my post today. We ARE all in this together and we CAN make a difference more easily than we think.

My husband and I just went to the most beautiful celebration fo life for my son’s 4th birthday at his Montessori. I don’t know how 15 three and four year old children can be peaceful and calming to me, but they were. We even did a yoga child’s pose that Eddie chose as his special moment of silence. The most beautiful part, though, was when he walked around the line (circle) and each child shook his hand, looked in his eyes, and said “Happy Birthday, Eddie.” How often do we take time to stop, look someone in the eye and give them a moment of our full awareness. I felt such respect and love from this young group: for each other, for the ceremony, for their environment. It was truly uplifting… and of course I cried!

I believe this wholeheartedly. I have some one who left daily comments on my blog with such love and imagination and then just before Christmas time she stopped commenting . I didn’t think anything of it until about the middle of January when she was really on my mind so I decided to email her and see if everything was okay. Well tragedy had struck her family just before christmas with the death of her brother and the earlier death of his wife to cancer. My regular blog visitor already had 4 young children and now she had taken in her brothers 2 young ones. She now has 6 children under the age of 8 to love and care for. I cried when I read her email and then I emailed a handful of my talented friends and asked them to put together some handmade and thrifted items together and mail them to me so I could send her a very special gift from all of us for valentines day. Everyone I asked has made the most amazing things or found wonderful treasures and I am putting the parcel together this weekend. We are all in this together.

love this. and yes, agree with the sentiments exactly.
i think what i’ve noticed lately in relation to this is that everyone seems to be thinking more and more about it and more importantly… more and more about the collective, the whole, the community rather than what americans had become rather good at which is only worrying about #1.
I see more goodness, I see more patience, I see more smiles. I see more eye contact, less hanging heads. I see people thinking more about taking action vs just walking by as if it’s not their problem.

This image is so simple and powerful.
I have an example from just this morning. My three kids emptied their “share” banks to give to the “Pennies for Patients” program that’s sponsored by the Luekemia and Lymphoma Society. They went in search of lost piggy banks to try and find more change. One of the kids in my son’s class is currently undergoing treatment for Leukemia and you would never know by the way he lives life fully. He goes to school and participates in everything. Kids have such loving and open hearts. I try to look to them as examples of living in the moment.

´We are in this together´ is a mindset, a way of life. It is a good mantra to live with, and if we would all keep this in mind the world would be a better place.
