Coastal Living Magazine

Show of hands, how many of you read Coastal Living magazine? I receive it monthly and do the normal flip-through, if I like something I stop and if not, it ends up going to my friend who is crazy about the magazine. I like Coastal Living but most of the time I can’t get into it. Lately though, the tide (he he) has changed. I’m starting to spend more time with each issue and not so easily handing it over to my pal. This month, she is definitely NOT getting it because I found lots of goodies — most of which will be used in my inspiration folders or books because the spreads in the June 09 issue are lovely.

I highly suggest picking up a copy and checking out page 20 (Sally Bartz spread), 26 (Beachy Boho product round up), 44 (delicious living room), 50 (lovely bedrooms), 52-58 (killer kitchen & laundry room reno), 61-64 (LaJolla, CA highlights) , 66-70 (Providence, RI travel feature), I laugh as I write this because I think that about sums up the entire issue… and my favorite — a vacation home in Georgia that is over-the-top gorgeous in mostly turquoise, white and lime green. You will die twice, I swear! Here’s a peek:

Can we discuss this kitchen for a moment? I mean, yowser! Pinch me already. How cute is that Smeg, and it’s turquoise! And the tile, and the art, and let’s not overlook the light fixtures, or all that perfectly styled pottery… My kitchen is so jealous of this kitchen. This is the Kate Moss of kitchens, agree?

And the bedroom. Ah, the bedroom. May I please do a landing jump on that bed after taking a shower from lounging on the beach all day? I would absolutely mess up all of those starfish pillows, and possibly drool on the cover from being so blissed out by the entire experience (the beach! the house! that Smeg we discussed earlier!) but I can’t imagine doing much else in that bedroom expect laying on that bed with a big cheesy grin on my face.

Now to let you down with this horrible view and outdoor eating space. Sorry, I know this disappoints you. The bedroom was divine and the kitchen surreal (even Martha Stewart can’t touch this house) but like with every home, there’s always something to whine about and it’s usually the neighbors or the lousy view of someone else’s brick wall or a really bad alleyway. Same goes for this home, complete with this painful view of THE MOST GORGEOUS BEACH ever. Sigh.

Their Nova Scotia travel pages are wonderful, makes me want to take a ferry from Maine (something I’ve long wanted to do) to go there. Oh and on pages 90-97 is one lovely home that is one that I can imagine living in myself, here’s a snap of it below…

I want every pillow on this sofa. All of them. And the rug. And the pink rocker. And the art.

Sorry for my rubbish photos, I photographed my actual issue — but I think this glimpse will entice you enough to go out and grab your own copy because seriously you’d be missing out if you didn’t. And no I don’t work for Coastal Living magazine, but I do love me some good design! :)
