Hi! I’m Viv from the Ish & Chi blog and I’m so excited Holly asked me visit while she is moving as part of her guest series, “A few of my favorite things“. Here are a few of my favourite things around my home.
Things that inspire me: I get a lot of inspiration from blogs (like decor8!), interior magazines, fashion photography (especially from the sixties), Japanese art and sometimes really random things. For example, pictures my mum scribbles while she chats on the phone with friends have inspired a new art series I’m working on for Ish & Chi.
Favourite advice I’ve heard: This advice is from a blog I’m loving at the moment – 500 Pieces of Prudent Advice for My Baby Daughter: “Get messy. Some of the most joyous things in life can be grimy, sloppy, dirty mayhem.” I couldn’t agree more. The other day I tipped my son’s leftover food onto his highchair tray and we ‘painted’ with it. Food went everywhere but it was a lot fun.

So excited to see you are Australian. I saw the colourful bird pillow today in a shop and fell in love with it. After seeing it on your bed i have decided it is a sign that i need to buy it. Beautiful.

Alli – 3 of the dolls are kokeshi dolls I bought from ebay and the other 3 are kimmidolls I bought from a little gift store in Sydney. You can see a better shot of them here along with more photos of my studio: The studio
Virginia – The blue painted walls are part of my laundry/spare bathroom makeover. Here’s the plan: The laundry. I’ll be posting photos of it when it’s all done.
ginny & Kathryn – The wallpaper is by Catherine Martin for Porters Paints. The print is called Circus Silhouette.
Pen – Nice to ‘meet’ someone else obsessed with birds. I fear at times our home has become and aviary! I picked up the pillow from Bed, Bath N’ Table already made up so I don’t have any details of the fabric itself, sorry.
