Girl Time

Sometimes all you really want to do is to wear extraordinary girly-cute clothes, sassy high heels and surround yourself with nothing more than pastel French macaroons and decadent cupcakes. Marie Antoinette style. Which is precisely the look I think the stylist here was going for when these shots were produced for Vogue Girl magazine in Korea back in 2007.

Vogue Girl Korea

Finding these images for the first time today on the style blog, Fashion Nation, I felt like the time was just perfect for me personally. Gee… being a girl is such a treat, is it not? I think we all need to give ourselves a bit more girl time. Spend quiet moments browsing perfumes, take a moment to dine or have tea alone in your favorite spot, purchase a gorgeous little something to wear to bed, enjoy a night out with your lady friends… we girls need this sort of thing. Take it from me, as I just had a most lovely ladies lunch today with a most dear friend, you simply must buy out time to do something fantastic for yourself either by yourself or with a person who doesn’t stress you out or bring you one bit of negativity. It’s so refreshing to enjoy these special breaks and will make you feel inspired and refreshed like you wouldn’t believe. And doing it on a Monday is priceless… sets the tone for the whole week I think. Try it sometime and let me know if it made your week a little sweeter to take a break on Monday to do something you-specific. :) Hey, being a little self absorbed or spoiling yourself now and then can be a really nice thing. I vote we do it more often!

What a lovely post! I couldn’t agree more. Yesterday I spent the day with one of my very best friends who I’ve known ever since school. These things are very important for us girls. We should all take the time to indulge in them more. :)

Adorable! Two of my favourite things, heels and sweets! I absolutely agree that we need to make the time to enjoy the feminine things in life, it’s so easy to get downtrodden with the practical and habitual. I think I’ll break out my fancy floral china for tea today. If only I had petit-fours… :)

Being a girl is the best!! I love love love taking time out to do girl things, like hanging out with my Mum or friends, doing my nails or just looking through all my drawers at jewelry I forgot about and shoes that I forgot I had – and putting it all back away neatly with a nice smelling soap or satchet.

I totally agree, we should all indulge ourselves in something pretty, or pink, or perphaps pastel shades or delicate. Like beautiful new bed linen, a new girly journal, a colourful scarf, fresh flowers even those picked from our own garden, some cupcakes to go with a new china cup, a new handbag, how about a handcrafted purse, a new girly book, even a nice home decor magazine, the list goes on and on. So basically Holly you are right we should treat ourselves every so often, whether that be some retail therapy or spending time with girl friends.

    All things nice….

Delightful pics! I work in the IT world any the majority of my colleagues are men. So girl time is highly appreciated! to have all those chats that are really not possible with man. Although the other day i was able to get some colleagues looking at Christian Louboutin shoes! to try to explain them the women abosession with shoes.. it think they almost got it! :)

Lovely photographs! Especially the backlit one with the tea cart – so magical! I am not really a girly girl, but these photos are sugary sweet – who wouldn’t love them!? (I admit I have a hard time looking closely at shoes on the table with food in them – but they are a lovely compliment to the colors of the cakes when I remember that it’s not “real” food, teehee)

Thanks for the sweet start to the day, Holly.
