Today the photography of talented Olaf Szczepaniak in Hamburg has my attention — I found him through the pages of German interiors magazine Living At Home. He’s not known here in America which is even more reason to visit his online portfolio today – he’s fresh and from what I can tell he’s not been blogged before now. There’s always a first time… And what an enjoyable first experience it is to explore his many galleries online – from food to interiors, outdoors and more. The spaces that he photographs are simply gorgeous and I love his still life work – his food shots make me hungry which is the sign of a great food stylist and photographer, right!?
When I look at his work seeing the world through his lens, I see the cozy lovely northern Germany that I’ve grown to love so much. The coast, the open fields, the pretty brick homes… the candles in the windows, these thoughts and images make me so much more excited about my relocation there in less than a month. I can’t wait!

I just discovered a new-to-me woman’s lifestyle magazine based in Finland called Kodin Kuvalehti thanks to editor Tiina who also authors her own blog called Sparkling Ink who was nice enough to write about me and send over a copy. Oh yes, I said write about me. The surprise part was when I opened up the July issue and saw words praising decor8 (she translated it for me). Wow!
I’m so flattered to be featured in a Finnish magazine — I can’t even begin to explain how exciting it is for me to now have readers in Finland joining me each day here on the site. If you’d like to read what it says, please click here. Thank you so much Tiina Kodin Kuvalehti magazine for featuring me and my blog in your magazine, what an honor.

You won’t want to miss Take Five Tuesday this week because there’s a great discount nestled in here but you have to read each description below to discover where the deal is. I know, what a hook huh? I sound like such a sales girl. This week I’m sharing a mix of everything from faux bamboo retro lamps to Zakka-inspired magnets so without further rambling… here’s my 5 picks from Etsy this week!
Some of my goodies arrives recently from Zoe Tropa in Boston and so I had to include them in this round up to say how much I love their things. All the little pencils melt my heart…
Although I love the finds over at Fabulous Mess I wish the owners would disclose who they are and where they are based because I think it would definitely boost sales for them! But aside from that, I think their eye for vintage furniture, ceramics and lighting is the best and I especially like how well they restore pieces. Anyone know who is behind this shop though? They have excellent feedback so that should make you feel confident as a buyer though so I say give them a try.
Mr H Studio has some gorgeous modern bowls and mugs, I’m in love with the coffee cups… All are made by hand on a potter’s wheel in porcelain and stoneware shipped directly from maker to owner.
Courtney Oquist has such colorful, sweet prints that I just had to add them to the mix this week for a touch of whimsy.
Jean Pelle in Brooklyn is offering a 15% discount on most items in their shop – all Wood Candle Holders and ASSEMBLAGE pieces. I LOVE this shop and am dying to order about 5 of the these candle holders for my windows. The sale is over July 15th so if you want something simply make a note to the seller when you check out that you’d like the discount and they’ll send you a revised invoice for your new total. Sale excludes new items such as the Bubble Chandelier, jewelry, and already reduced items.
