Hello and welcome to a new week on decor8! I hope that each of you had a very nice and restful weekend, did you? I had plans to attend a rug design show (I know it doesn’t sound too exciting does it?) but I ended up staying home and organizing and thorough cleaning my living room, going through stacks of magazines, and writing, writing, writing course materials for my e-class which kicks off today for the next 7 weeks! And what about you, what do you have going on in your life currently? I like to catch up with you so feel free to share! And speaking of sharing…
Wilkintie is a lovely etsy shop that I just discovered and shared today with my Real Simple audience, you may want to visit there for the full scoop on this exciting design duo based in Australia. This is truly fantastic letterpress work in which Wilkintie collaborates with some of their favorite artists to turn their work into prints with those lovely, deep impressions known as letterpress. There’s nothing like it in my opinion, it’s tactile and truly gorgeous – everyone should own at least one letterpress print or some cards because they feel almost like a luxury item, like sheets with a high thread count, LOL. :)
The rabbit print is my favorite as feels very folk art inspired and I’m always eager to see modern interpretation of Finnish, Swedish, Russian, Czech and Polish folk art.
Happy Monday to you! I’ll be posting more goodies to share and inspire us both soon so stay tuned!

The wilkintie prints are so lovely. I got one for my birthday last year but I wouldn’t mind a couple more… The rabbit by Klaus Haapaniemi is aborable and maybe it could be accompanied by that yellow print with the bear and little creatures… Too bad christmas is gone and it’s a long way til my next birthday ;)

A nice and sleepy weekend, yes, thank you.
I went to an auction once and it turned out to be some kind of rug how: I learned a lot and found it quite interesting! And I agree: simple luxury: letterpress prints!

I got to clean PART of my studio this weekend. It still has a little way to go, but I found my sewing machine! Hooray for small miracles! I posted some pics to my flickr… http://www.flickr.com/photos/nightowlcraftworks/sets/72157623212784534/

Good day to you too! This week is exciting because I start another semester of college! I’ve always loved art history, and I love the study of other cultures art, it helps you understand where they come from and how they view things. Kind of like someone’s home! I guess that’s why people enjoy seeing other’s homes, because it lets to take a little glimpse into how someone else lives.
Happy Monday!

My Sunday was lovely; it started with organizing my sewing room (amazing all the supplies and materials I forgot I had!), and then I had a chance to spend some time creating a new idea for leather coasters that has been in my head for a while now. It’s always refreshing to spend some time being creative to start the week off inspired!

Happy Monday to you too my dear! These are beautiful letterpress, my fave is the rabbit one as well….Sounds like you got a lot done this weekend, I did as well. Spent lots of fun time with my girls as well, even thought when we tried to take our doggies to the reservation it was pouring rain outside, the reservation was closed and then our pup threw up on my oldest daughter the whole way home! :) NOT a successful trip to say the least but, we still had fun! :) Good luck with the launch of your ecourse.
xoxo

I spent 6 years in custom woven carpet design for the hospitality design industry including hand knotted area rugs — I think carpet design is REALLY interesting! I would love to know what show you are going to and what your thoughts are!

Ooh wish I had signed up for your BYW class, but had already enrolled for a screen printing course due to start on the same day. Screen printing course has since been cancelled because they didn’t have enough people enrolled, aargh! Oh well, I’m sure you’ll hold another course sometime, yes??? Hope so. Good luck with the househunting!

My 7 year old Madalyn and I spent 3 hours cleaning, organizing and “fashioning” (as she called it) her bedroom this weekend. I’m always amazed by how much stuff we buy for our kiddos these days! I absolutely love when we are all done and she spends th rest of the day playing with things she’s forgotten about. I also love how she rearranges things when I leave the room.
Thanks for letting me share!
Lovely prints.

I share the same feelings towards letterpress! it is piece of art, and I love buying cards and collecting them.
My weekend was peaceful and relaxed; I am trying to spend a lot of time with my daughter as she will soon have to share my attention with her little brother (I am due next week).
She is only 3 but I love bringing her to a nice place for tea time and share a yummy sweet with her. We are talking about things she likes at the moment, her friends, her birthday party to be planned and I take this occasion to teach her good table manners :)
I am also trying to fill up my shop with as many items as I can make before I give birth as I don’t really know how it will be once I have given birth…
