Swedish Home of Anna Malin

I found the very stylish Anna Malin behind the blog Helt Enkelt recently by visiting some Swedish blogs and clicking around on blogrolls — then I contacted her and viola! here she is on decor8. I’m so glad that I found Anna because I am in love with her blog and her home.

Helt Enkelt

Anna simply has the best style – she mixes classic Swedish furniture with flea market finds and heirloom pieces resulting in a romantic yet crisp and modern home with lots of personalized touches. Here are some views of her gorgeous space. I especially like the three different ways that she has decorated her dining room, it’s fun to see what she’s up to next! From her blog I gather that she rearranges her home very often, and given that she has a family and kids, I’m quite impressed by this not to mention how clean and organized her space is.

When you tweeted about the black accent walls I was very curious. I’m amazed at how they lend a sense of serenity to the design. What a gorgeous home! It has that incredibly modern feel without seeming like a museum – one still feels like it’s a comfortable home to live in.
Thanks so much for sharing this!

On an added note – I’m impressed by the photos! So much white in a home can be difficult to photograph! =)

  29. 29 decor8 commented:

Funny how so many are loving the black accent wall right now, seems to be a real trend. Honestly, I don’t like it but in Anna’s home I LOVE IT. Though I still do not want it in my house because I know I’d tire of it and because I have allergies to most paint I cannot just throw up a new color whenever I’d like or else I’d be a bit more daring. The paint in Germany smells horrible, when I first moved in to my freshly painted apartment my eyes were swollen for 4 weeks! LOL.

But yes, black on walls. I think it works in some spaces but not all – it has to do with room size, height of ceilings, and lighting don’t you? Thoughts?

  30. 30 decor8 commented:

Lucy you’re funny! I think we all feel this way when we see AMAZING spaces but let it be a motivator for you to change things up, don’t beat yourself up because I’m sure your home is beautiful.

I really like the muted palette with the bursts of color here and there — especially those orange lights in the dining room (I don’t often go for orange but I like those). Hello, I’m Harp. Thank you so much for sharing such an inspiring and unique space. This is my first post here, although I’ve been a reader for some time. I had to comment because black has been on my mind since eyeing the cover of one of Sherwin William’s Paint look-books. A stunning dining room with substantial natural light and great molding is featured with black onyx walls, paired with black and white patterned fabrics and fabulous pops of apple green, white and deep orange. I can’t get the loveliness out of my head…

Oh and regarding black walls – I agree that it has to do with both space and lighting. It totally wouldn’t work at my place, it’s way too small and would make it look very dark. But it DOES look great in the pictures above!

Anna’s home is gorgeous! I love how light and open it feels while still maintaining a cozy and welcoming atmosphere. She used just the right amount of warming details. OK. Black is lovely, but i also think that photos charm it a lot. I like th TV on black wall, it’s convenient but not so high. For your info, cause i have a really dark brown-chocolate wall in my house, the tiny dust look awful on it. As for the 3 rooms, i liked them all but i would put nothing on the wall. Excellent blog though.

I love the black wall, but totally agree that it can only be done in the correct home. I don’t think it would look great in a home with low ceilings or that doesn’t get a lot of natural light. But for Anna Halin, it is AWESOME! She does an incredible job of mixing and matching…all of her pieces are so interchangable because she has stayed with the same color palette, which is beautiful!
