Orla Kiely Spring Summer 2010

I have lots of colorful posts to share with you today to get you in the mood for Spring! First up, London-based Irish designer Orla Kiely. She just launched her Spring/Summer 2010 collection of fashion, accessories, stationery and things for the home on both her UK and US websites and I just have to share them to pick you up if you’re experiencing the Monday morning blues. I think this is her strongest collection to date – the palette is very bright and energetic, less muddy than past seasons, don’t you think?.

The handbags and wallets are my favorites, though I also like the new assortment of mugs and pillows along wit the embroidered stem towel – a subtle detail against white. I think her patterns this season really show a different side of Orla that I like and found her inspiration for this season most fascinating, “Orla Kiely finds her muse in Hayley Mills. This collection draws inspiration from The 70s’ Parent Trap to The Sound of Music. The collection reveals a designer whose work is evolving as she steps forward into a more charming and elegant world.

What things to do you see that you simply must have?

Oh, you just gotta love Orla Kiely! I was a fan of her last collection, and this one looks wonderful as well. Love the colors. The red and yellow tin is the cutest. Happy Monday, Holly!

ok, so I’m first to comment. that must mean that I am a pathetic Orla fan!

I have a few Orla treasures here in Australia which I bought back from Paris. I made my husband train and walk miles to find her shop there.

One of those mugs to match mine would be lovely and any of the bags in the fourth column would be fine thanks.. Now can I email you my postal address so you can send me some???? hee hee. :) thanks Holly.

Ah yes, what a way to begin a new week!

I’m actually more a fan of her older bags but quite like the white one in the second row …

You can purchase the tea caddy (comes with 160 tea bags!) here: http://tiny.cc/mOqGJ but beware shipping to Europe and beyond is quite high! My sister is bringing one over from Ireland next month :-)

By the way Holly, Orla is Irish ;-)

I love those bags, mugs and pillows!!! Too bad I don’t live in London :(

  18. 18 decor8 commented:

Siobhan – I have the tea tin too ) I bought it last year in the Spring. It’s wonderful, isn’t it?

  19. 19 decor8 commented:

Siobhan – Hi again, just read your last sentence — I wrote UK Designer, isn’t the part of Ireland where she is from the UK too? That is what I thought anyway as I know northern Ireland is part of the United Kingdom. Also I refer to her as a UK designer because she is based primarily in London. Hope this helps!

  20. 20 Fresh Design Blog commented:

Love her homeware designs (not so keen on the handbags) – really like the look of the new storage tins and cushions.

  21. 21 Siobhán commented:

Oh right Holly, I was always under the impression that she was born in Dublin – I could be wrong though! It’s just when I usually read about her, “Irish designer” is mentioned! No problem! We Irish like to claim what is rightfully ours :-)

  22. 22 decor8 commented:

Siobhan – he he you’re so cute and you know, I totally agree! I always thought it was so unfair when a German moved to NYC, becomes famous, and then is known as the famous American designer or whatever. You know what, since I’m sensitive to this I’ll revise my text to read “London-based Irish designer”. How’s that?

  23. 23 Shannon commented:

I’m totally in love with those bags…one of each indeed.

  24. 24 Siobhán commented:

You’re a star Holly! Though I feel slightly embarrassed for making you change your text – I wasn’t offended or anything ;-)

  25. 25 decor8 commented:

Siobhan – Oh I know, you were very kind and you certainly did not make me — I did that on my own. You’re right and I value your comment!

  26. 26 Katie commented:

those pillows, the insanley adorabe canister and the bath towels in mandarin and green kill me. They are so beautiful!!! I couldn’t find the pillows or canister online…must be sold out : ( thanks for sharing!!!

  27. 27 Maia commented:

I can’t find the bag in the bottom left corner (stem print with leather accents) anywhere on either the UK or the US website. Can you help?

  28. 28 Sarah Fox commented:
