Photographer Tara Donne has one of those oh my portfolios that makes you sit absolutely still with eyes locked on your screen, a slightly lowered lip… you know, that pre-drool expression that only comes from stumbling upon the most beautiful imagery ever.
That is exactly how I describe my experience this morning as I first flipped through her virtual portfolio. With each image, a new sensation, thought, even a few fresh ideas. Her photography is moving, inspiring and though art is subjective and I realize your experience may be different — I absolutely connect with her style (especially the still life photographs) and think there is a good chance you may feel a connection too. Here is but a brief glimpse into her world.

I love hooks — I would install various hooks on every surface if my husband would let me. That image with the blue bag and yellow beads hanging side-by-side gives me such good feelings. Someone cool lives there. All of these images are lovely, in fact. I wish I could see that kitchen photo a little bigger!

absolutely lovely. As an artisan who lives naturally in her own home, how do you translate these images to your own home space, Holly? I’m just curious what possibilities these images open you up to?
For me, this says that I need to choose what is beautiful, to me, and not settle for something that would just be okay — in the entryway, for example. Leave the space blank for now. Beautiful doesn’t equal expensive as these images illustrate.
The way Tara combines objects is like a painter with her palette. It would really be helpful to have objects of such beauty to choose from.

I know little about photography. In my own product shots I somehow convinced myself that limiting the number of objects in a composition in order to allow for focus on the subject (product in my case) was the way to go. I love how Tara is able to capture so much in a single shot.

those images just take my breath away. i’ve just visited her website. particularly adore food, still life and interior pics. she is sooo great! i think the real photographer has a talent to photograph every day natural life as it is and make it look so beautiful! all those details, that make viewer just stare into the picture, that make feel like viewer are transfered into another space – i just love it!
