Happy Weekend!

March 13, 2010

This weekend I plan to chill… relax, restore, refresh because I have a lot of work to do in the coming weeks and so I plan to enjoy this down time as much as possible. What about you — what do you have going on and what will you do this weekend?

Happy Weekend!

In addition to errands and the usual stuff, I will devote an evening to magazine and book reading along with journaling as this is a great thing to do for those of us who are online a lot. It helps to put thoughts into writing and pictures on paper. Do you journal? I highly suggest it. I’ve been keeping one since I was a little girl and though I’m not nearly as regular since I started writing a blog, I still see the need to maintain something on paper because I believe that it is equally important to document things by hand. Picking up a pencil, rolling it between your fingers, the smell of fresh paper as you crack open a new journal, the way your watercolors bleed into water creating such a lovely pattern and then a soft solid color… it’s an experience that computers and internet technology, no matter how advanced they become, cannot offer and why should they when physical pleasures are so intense and warming to the heart?

Happy Weekend!

Shown above are some of the magazines that I plan to read. Marie Claire Idees (French) – crafting and interiors, Luna (German) – for parents and children with beautiful images and travel ideas (similar to MILK), Living At Home (German) – Features decorating and styling ideas, entertaining, recipes with breathtakingly beautiful fresh images. This magazine gets stronger and stronger with every issue. You can view it online here. Living At Home Spezial (German) is produced by the magazine but is 3x thicker and seasonal so you have recipes, styling and decorating tips, the “best of” all rolled into one edition. And finally a Living & More Premium issue called Country Träume Wohnen which is more country style but has many lovely homes and images inside. All except for the French magazine help me to learn German better so there is a bonus to all of this eye candy since I’m also able to improve my language skills.

The tippy top image was taken this morning, I had a very nice mail day with some cards and letters to read from friends and a very nice surprise – my new subscription to VTWonen (Dutch) just arrived and included a very nice styling insert! More to read! Yay!

What are your plans for Saturday and Sunday?

I will be working, working, working but I am so happy to be working on my own business and not my 9 to 5 job. In a few weeks I will be taking some time off and have a four day weekend to get lots of stuff done. I can’t wait! Your magazine morning looks like lots of fun.

My plans are to go upholstery fabric shopping, read the newest FiberArts magazine, go to the library and procrastinate cleaning as much as possible.

My favorite part the weekend is going to the magazine store on Saturday while nibbling on lunch and drinking coffee. I bought VT Wonen today too, but I think my issue is old, since mine is from April and you already have the March issue.

  • Reply Tina March 13, 2010 at 12:15 pm

I’ve been reading this blog for a little while now but this is my first time commenting. This weekend I’m going to continue tackling spring cleaning and work on my blog. Hopefully I can squeeze a few crafts in there. Hope you have a good weekend!

I will be celebrating with a date night dinner with my sweetie and working on new design elements for my blog. Weekends are a time to reconnect with my inner self and spend time with the ones I love. I too enjoy journaling and have noticed the joy it brings to my life since starting to journal daily about 3 years ago. I keep a gratitude journal on my nightstand and every night write what I was thankful for throughout the day. Enjoy your lovely magazine evening ;)

Sounds like a lovely weekend you have planned.

I did the usual sports with the kids, made a huge pot of chicken soup, read some of my book, crocheted in front of the footy on tv.

Today is taking my middle daughter to church to listen to her sing in the choir, then home and relax, and maybe some quilting

    Hallo Holly :) Wie geht’s ?

Love your selection of magazines. I’m on holidays, so yesterday saturday I went to a small flea market only of haberdashery goods and it was great, I came home with plenty of stuff. Today we are going to eat at my aunt’s house and after that the whole afternoon will be devoted to nothing, absolutely nothing (I will try, it’s hard not to do nothing !!!)
    Have a great sunday.

How was your weekend Holly? I had the BEST weekend – because I seemed to do everything and not much all at once. My partner and I decided to massively ‘Spring clean’ (obviously it’s Autumn here in Australia) our little cottage, mainly Spring clean our lives of all our clutter. It was SO cleansing, this morning I am sitting at my desk with incredibly organised files and I am off to the charity shop this morning with a few big boxes.
It helped the weather here is just glorious, crisp morning and stunning 25 degrees afternoons, so went for big walks on our farm with our five dogs.
P.S. I would like a cat but my partner is dog obsessed (hence 5 dogs), the opposite of you and your husband! I have a little ‘house-dog’ (our other dogs are working cattle dogs) and I think you should def get one!

It makes me happy when people journal :) It’s kind of a lost art, now that we have blogs. Some of my happiest times have been coming home from work or school in the evening and knowing that I had whole hours ahead of me where I could sit on my balcony and journal and look at the beautiful scenery and dream. I’ve filled twelve or thirteen journals in the past decade, and the first few were silly (when I was in high school, and had nothing to write about but boys), but the later ones are interesting and insightful, and I enjoy going back and reading through them occasionally.
