fresh finds for hip spaces

Car Moebel

One shop I frequently visit online is Car Moebel because I’m often inspired by their product shots and enjoy some of the lines that they carry. I also have some furniture in my home from this store along with a few rugs so as loyal customer I can say that their service is top notch and the quality is great.

Pretty change purse from Rice.

I’m currently on the prowl for a desk but I’m having no luck. I went to the flea market this past weekend on Saturday, then again on Sunday, and found nothing there. And so I will continue to shop around for a desk. My current desk is a vintage metal kitchen table from the 1950′s and it came from the Netherlands. While I like it, the dimensions are not suited for a desk so there is only room for my keyboard and barely space for my mouse pad – a problem! So a new desk is in order! Car Moebel has a few but I like to shop around before I commit…

I like this desk but I’m afraid it is too large for the space I have.

This one is also nice but my computer would never fit on it. It’s also a bit too complicated with all the drawers and storage and such. I prefer a clean surface and maybe a few drawers beneath or nothing at all. Clean lines, simple, this would be best.

Oh well… the only thing that one can do when they cannot find the object of their desire is to find a distraction and so these pretty lampshades by Rie Elise Larsen will do.

And these paper mobiles are also quite nice.

My search for a desk continues! I’ll let you know what I find…

I ADORE that second desk! I love the little storage units on top, and the subtle curve of the sides that soften it.

Actually what I don’t like are the drawers underneath, because of how I sit at a desk. Deep “lips” (I’m not sure what the right word for them is) or drawers underneath a desk interferes with my leg room and messes up my alignment (shoulders, arm, and head angle in relation to the laptop).

Still, lovely designs! It’s a beautiful store.

I find that whenever I go to a flea market and am looking for something specific I can never find it- but always find lot’s of lovely things that I wasn’t looking for and didn’t know I needed. Good luck on the desk search, that was one of the hardest things for me to find and although I love mine visually, I keep thinking it could be bigger.
