Hello Friends, it is Leslie here with the work of photographer Jennifer Causey. She is no stranger to decor8 as there is a post about Jennifer by Holly back in 2006. I on the other hand am new to Jennifer’s work and since viewing her portfolio I cannot stop thinking about it!
There is something really fresh about Jennifer’s work as she manages to make many elements look uncluttered and elegant. I find myself staring at her photographs imagining what I would do next in them, like gobble up that banana bread or pick a pattern off the wall for a silkscreen. I want to be in her photographs! Jennifer is really good at using popular domestic subject matter like tea cups, sweets and books and making them look like a still life painting or a calm moment in time instead of being syrupy sweet and fluffy. This is what makes her work fresh and why I find it inspiring.
Jennifer recently photographed the book Applique Your Way and Holly talked about it in this post.
You will love going through Jennifer’s gorgeous portfolio, her food photography is stunning too.
Be prepared to be swept away by Jennifer’s blog, simply photo and her simply photo shop.
Do you have a photographer who completely blows your mind, too? Who is it?

Very good I especially love the last one as the background is actually a messy table but she can make it soft and soothing.

Oh- this is another bookmark of an inspiring website (since I am reading this blog a lot of links to website have been accumulated). I love the way how the “real” dark blackberries are related to the pattern of dark branch of the jar in picture 3. More of these lovely relationships between real fruit and flower are shown on her website: orange flower and all over pattern of branches, buds and blooms on a graphical wallpaper…

Lovely! I can almost smell that loaf of bread. And has anyone else noticed that macaroons are popping up everywhere lately? Could they be the next cupcake craze?

Beautiful pictures! At first glance they look effortless but when you really look at them you can see that some time was put into putting the elements together and making it appear simple and uncluttered, and in coordinating the colors and texture of the items. The end results look natural as if the items were already positioned and all she did was take the picture. Very inspiring!
The macaroons look delicious, and I love the pattern on the tea cups in the third picture. I will definitely bookmark her website.

Hey, great! And isn’t that the studio of Lotta Jansdotter?? I recognize her patterns of the two birds. She makes such lovely things, and now we can take a peek in her work…

I’ve been following Jen’s websites for a couple of years now, yay! One of my absolute favorite shots of hers involves a strand of simple white ‘winky lights’ (as my mother would say), a vintage wooden chair, and a tray holding soft balls of yarn, a pinecone, and a clean white mug. I just want to hop into that picture and stay awhile. :)
