Hey it’s the weekend! How did that happen? This week flew by and I’m heading out of New York soon to Los Angeles so I want to wish you a very happy weekend and on Monday I’ll be checking in but also posting a lovely home tour and sharing some more highlights and such. I want to wish you a wonderful weekend, I have to work but I’m trying to fit some shopping in later today because there are so many stores I want to see before leaving…
I realllly miss blogging daily but Leslie has been doing a great job and next week I’ll be hanging out with her in L.A. so that will be nice to finally meet her in person. :) Yay! Last night I met up with some blogger friends and it was sooo nice to bring the virtual to the reality. One thing I’ve loved about all of this traveling = THE PEOPLE! Outside of New York cab drivers, people here are so friendly and welcoming despite how massive this city is and the crazy hectic pace. I can’t wait to go to California to compare the lifestyle out there — I’ve not been to L.A. in five years and all I dream about is sitting by the sea enjoying fish tacos and sunshine with new friends by my side there. For all of those whom I’ve met while here in New York, thank you so much for the warm reception and fun times — it has been such a pleasure to meet you.
Well, it’s a wrap! I’ll see you on Monday and have a wonderful weekend! xo

Hello Friends, it is Leslie here with the work of photographer Jennifer Causey. She is no stranger to decor8 as there is a post about Jennifer by Holly back in 2006. I on the other hand am new to Jennifer’s work and since viewing her portfolio I cannot stop thinking about it!
There is something really fresh about Jennifer’s work as she manages to make many elements look uncluttered and elegant. I find myself staring at her photographs imagining what I would do next in them, like gobble up that banana bread or pick a pattern off the wall for a silkscreen. I want to be in her photographs! Jennifer is really good at using popular domestic subject matter like tea cups, sweets and books and making them look like a still life painting or a calm moment in time instead of being syrupy sweet and fluffy. This is what makes her work fresh and why I find it inspiring.
You will love going through Jennifer’s gorgeous portfolio, her food photography is stunning too.
Do you have a photographer who completely blows your mind, too? Who is it?

Hello friends! It’s me Holly checking in from NYC where I’ve been based since Saturday working and meeting some pretty amazing people. Debi and I are having a great time running from house to house shooting spaces and I am really enjoying the styling part because it is a lot of fun to immerse myself in such interesting hands-on work and to step away from the computer for just a short bit in order to get everything done for the book by deadline. I’ve been enjoying my stay here and will be heading to LA in a few days to continue the journey and then on the 21st of July I’ll be back home in Germany for a bit. I’ve really missed you all this week but Leslie is here to keep you company so I hope you are enjoying her posts and inspiration. I’ll try to write on Monday from LA though I plan to hit the beach for the day as it’s a day off for me and I CANNOT WAIT to chill oceanside for a bit. Okay… SO! That’s all for now, Leslie will be here in a moment to treat you with another post. Bye everyone!!! xo
Hello friends, it is Leslie again here today with some delicious inspiration for you by Aran Goyoaga of the award winning blog canelle et vanille. When I stumbled upon the blogging world in January of 2009 Aran’s blog was one of the first three I fell into. I stared at her work with my jaw open in absolute awe.
I loved Aran’s sense of lighting, use of color and texture, not to mention all the baking wonders she seemed to meticulously whip up in her kitchen. Don’t you think it is a gift when you can find someone who inspires you to try something new? The fact that she was self-taught in photography just blew me away and later inspired me to try taking photographs for my own blog.
Between Aran, Holly and Benita (of Chez Larrson) I knew I wanted to start a blog. I am curious about whom if anyone inspired you to start a blog? Sometimes it can be nice to call out those who inspired you and say thank you. Today I am saying thank you Aran for all the beauty you create and share.
