Teen Vogue Bedroom By Tori Mellott

I don’t normally blog about children’s rooms but this classy teen bedroom makes me smile today because it is just so cute, isn’t it? It was decorated by former Domino market editor Tori Mellott who designed it for contest JCPenney was running along with Teen Vogue magazine where three teens won a bedroom makeover. The first one is my favorite room below, I love the juicy pink and yellow – it’s very fresh and inspiring! A mostly pink room with a burst of yellow is so energizing. Tori did such a fab job on this sweet space. Bravo, Tori!

I loved reading that the fourteen-year-old who won this new room cried when she saw it! Pink is her favorite color, though Tori Mellott didn’t want to turn it into a Barbie dream room — so she avoided frilly pieces (ruffles, scalloped edges, etc.) and went with clean lines (desk, roman shades, etc.) along with a stylish more grown-up geometric rug that the teenager can definitely use for years to come.

Read more about all three of the rooma and see what Tori used to create the look here.

I love this room. It’s just sweet enough and just young enough but is something she can enjoy for many years

This is the perfect teen room…I can remember (way back) when I was a teen always adding, rearranging and making it as cool as it could be, but never like this:) Have a happy weekend, Holly!

White! white white, it is the perfect crisp backdrop for these bursts of color and if you can’t be colorful when you are young when can you be!? I am so happy to be catching up on your blog early Sat morning with a cup of joe in my hand! LOVE the bowls from Istanbul. It is a feast for my eyes!

I’m no teen, but I would live in those rooms! I love the desk space of that first picture. I’ve been wanting to do a similar inspiration board over my desk and I think this just gave me the motivation to do it!

    Gorgeous.

Does anyone know where the chair cushion is from?

I can not find anywhere that has chair cushions I like. I’m ready to cry (exaggeration but only slight I’ve been looking for months on end). Where do people get their chair cushions?

This room is fresh and combo of lively colors. The idea of putting up a collage in front of the computer table is to keep your teens imagination flow. The idea is excellent. Thanks for sharing this.

She did such a great job! Not that I’m surprised–I loved everything she did at Domino. The chevron-striped rug and yellow chair are my faves. Bookmarking this for future reference, even if my daughter’s only 1 right now!
