Artist Sebastian Otto

Hello friends! How was your weekend? I hope you had a real nice one — I find the last few weeks of the year to go by so quickly so try your best to pause a bit because before we know it, we’ll be setting goals for 2011! I had a nice weekend, I attended two local craft fairs — one was at a gorgeous museum and showcased the work of mostly textile and fashion designers and the other featured all sorts of local makers designing everything from letterpress prints to tea cup candle holders. At one show I was able to finally meet an artist who I’d only heard of up until now, Hannover-based artist Sebastian Otto. His work is intriguing and lovely, I love his colors, obvious Japanese influences, and the symbolism in some of his work… it was nice to shake hands with someone whom I admire so much.

Of course, one of his postcards ended up on my inspiration board…

Sebastian has a small store at Art Bastard if you want to check out more of his work. Enjoy!

I love the contrast of the dark hair agains the pale skin. I have always found such beautiful drama in dark hair. He does gorgeous work.

Gorgeous work. I love the air of innocence and sadness in his work that the bright colors seem to bring out.
