Good morning, Monday!

I’m so happy Monday is here because now I can work on all of the projects that I need to get done since I couldn’t quite relax this weekend with deadlines looming. Today is also a special day because Blogging Your Way began and will continue for the next four weeks. I love teaching online, I can’t believe that I’m a month shy of two years of teaching this class – it’s crazy to think about how quickly time passes. It’s very exciting to teach because each course brings in an entirely new batch of students from all over the world that I can mix and mingle with quite intimately and it’s a nice feeling. While students are receiving their new wings to prepare them for a creative journey, I am dusting off my own and discovering new pieces of myself as I work with them. Teaching can be therapeutic, encouraging and eye opening to more than just the pupil!

Wings of change

Teaching today...

Unique Gift

Teaching in a room or a closed environment online feels so cozy! I also enjoy passing out homework each week because the idea of inspiring others to really dig deep and peel back the layers excites me. I always wonder what a student will take from the course and most importantly, what will click inside of them that is the one click that will make a difference.

How are you? What did you do this weekend? I spent a lot of time writing lessons for my class and hanging out with some friends, along with my mother-in-law who joined us for dinner on Saturday (so nice to have family in the same district). My mother in Boston got a copy of my book and called me because she was really! excited! and! had! a! ton! of! questions! She made me laugh. That phone call will stay with me for awhile. She was proud of me and that felt nice. No matter how old we get, or how far from home we live, a high five from a parent can be almost as satisfying now as it was when we were kids.

Have fun with your new students. BYW was one of the best things I ever did for myself.

This weekend: I launched my bookbinding/craft classes. Upon moving to Singapore, I quickly discovered that NO ONE is teaching these traditional arts here and I am trying to fill the vacuum. Very excited. Very nervous. Very motivated. I hope my students inspire me as much as yours do you.

    Hello Holly!

I also couldn’t relax during this weekend. I worked a lot on my blog and I felt really inspired, so I’m happy with that.

I simply can’t wait to see what this new week will bring! :-)

    Have a blessed week!

Oh, Holly…your post has just brought the sweetest memories to my mind from when I used to be a teacher. And one of the best things I keep from those times – 14 yeara ago…- is when a former student comes to me and recognises me in the street. :-) No, I don’t feel older. I feel wiser :-)

Regarding the weekend I spent it trying to fix my sewing machine… Despite that I managed to sew and photograph a camera strap for my Canon and an i-Pad cover for my shop. Now I need to ring someone to come home and fix the old sewing machine.. well, in the end everything will be ok :-)))

Oh, it was a calm weekend – just made a pillow and went shopping a little. Other than that, I was just happy being able to sip my coffee in peace and read the news for an hour! :-D

We finally found an amazing Chinese restaurant that was so fresh and non-greasy; we totally indulged! That’s ok, though, because we had worked hard helping a friend move into her new apt and I couldn’t be more thrilled for her; it’s so sunny and bright and just c.u.t.e.!

Teaching rocks. Granted I teach an entirely different thing, swim, to babies. There is just something so fulfilling about it that I love.

We had a low key weekend. I worked on some new tutorials to release this week and too down the valentine’s decor to make room for spring.

Hello Holly…All the best on your new class, I loved it back in September and I am sure your new students will benefit tremendously too. And what I also love in your post today are the Istanbul postcards! The first one is of the Bosphorus Strait in very old times, considering the mansions, only some of which are preserved today. And the second one is of the Ortakoy mosque right by the water. If you look at photos of the mosque today (just google it) you will see an addition to the scenery – the 1st Bosphorus Bridge. But the beauty of the spot is still the same. I just wanted to add some ‘local’ info when I saw your pretty composition :) All the best!

Hi Holly. I am hoping you can give me your opinion.
I want to buy your book. I live in Australia and I don’t know whether to order from England or America. They both have different covers and I was not sure about the inside of the book or paper quality. I am wondering if you have a preference…

@Leah – Order the one from Amazon.co.uk because it releases first and so you’ll get it in time. Paper quality is the same for both books though the British one has some AMAZING papers on the inside flaps. You can also order the Australian version – it releases there in April and has the same amazing papers but has the US cover on it. Murdoch is releasing it there so you should be able to find it at most large booksellers in April.
