From Pinterest With Love: Soft + Pretty
I decided to start four new columns on decor8, three that I’ll write and another authored by a dear friend who will join me once monthly for a brand new styling column. Yay! I’ll share them all with you soon but for today I want to get started on the first, my new once weekly post scheduled to run on Thursday called From Pinterest With Love. I know, I’m the queen of corny titles! But I was thinking… as I pin things over on the Pinterest site I see lots of themes in color palettes and vibes as I pin and find myself continuously inspired by the process of it all. However I am saddened at times because I want to do more than pin things, I want to point to the sources in an attempt to introduce you to the talented people + makers who created the beautiful images in the first place. And so with that, From Pinterest With Love has been created to highlight favorite finds with links to their sources so you can learn about new sources of inspiration running around out there. Here are my Pinterest Picks that I’m calling Soft + Pretty, for this week.
Do you spot a theme? I certainly do! Watercolors, cozy comfort, freshly picked hues, gorgeously soft and natural light and handmade touches. Ah, a soft and pretty springtime vibe.
Nikki McWilliams, cannelle-vanille, Stevi Savage of Avery House, traveling mama, Sophie Allen, Dottie Angel, happenstance, Old Brand New.
style me pretty, Marie claire idees, somethings hiding in here, steve steinhardt, scrapbooks etc, tocotoco.
Do any of these images inspire you? How about the colors? Patterns?

There is something so airy and whimsical about watercolours, they just have that almost translucent quality to them and I love the way the colours are picked out in the styling you’ve chosen! :-)
Exciting news about the new columns, Holly! Will be looking forward to reading them!

This is one of my favorite posts yet, as I am a huge fan of watercolor hues and the soft, feminine look of these pictures! My favorite pictures (mostly because they seem like something I can try on my own) are the bright, adorable pillow cushions, and the assortment of vibrant paper roses! I also love the font used for “painterly vibes…” – such a cute look!

I love candles. My favourite is by CIR, a French company that has become very hard to come by in the UK. The ‘Fabricant cirier depuis 1643′ is just heaven. I burnt the candle years ago but have still kept the glass with what little wax is still left as I love it so much. The scent is as strong now as the day I first used it.
Other than that Max Benjamin are fast becoming my faves as they have great natural scents and last an age!

Oh, Miss Holly! What an excellent idea! I LOVE myself some Pinterest. I can spend hours pinning things to my boards…in fact, I did just that a couple of nights ago! Your color choices here are absolutely gorgeous. Nice and fresh, with a dreamy quality. They make me want to paint! LOVE it!

This is an exciting new blog feature, I’ll look forward to it every week. I agree about Pinterest — it is jaw-dropping and oozing with beauty and inspiration *and* frustration at times trying to find the original sources of the images. If only Pinterest could take the lead and remind people in their little email updates to pin from the permalink, it would be a tiny start. It is really hard when people pin from Tumblr, etc. — I have spent up to an hour combing backwards through a Tumblr trying to find an image in hopes they even noted the source. Lucky we have Tineye.com, although it doesn’t always work.

Is it really necessary for bloggers to pull from Pinterest for content? Pinterest already does a good job of showcasing talent on its own.

I love the images! Pinterest is such a source for inspiration. And what I love more about Pinterest is that it leads you to the source, it gives credit to the person who made that photo, designed that item you love etc… (at least in most of the cases). Sometimes you find a wonderful thing in a blog or flickr and it’s difficult or impossible to see where it came for.
Can’t wait to see what the other columns are about!
