I have some good news to share. We all need good news on a Monday, don’t we?! Okay so first, I was interviewed via podcast last week by Alison from Craftcast and you know, it came out really relaxed and nice and perhaps even a bit inspirational so you may enjoy hearing it. If you click on this link, my interview begins about 1/4 of the way in and runs for about 25 minutes.
In the interview I talk about how I got my start in this crazy blogging adventure, how I feel about decorating trends, I even give some decorating advice and I reveal WHO is hosting the US book tour for Decorate, besides the lovely folks at Chronicle who are sponsoring it, of course. I hope that you enjoy “hearing” me as you “read” me so often, and that you’ll be around for my book tour, I’ll be posting all of the dates, times, locations, very soon so you can get it on your calendar. But for now, you can save the following dates:
- Saturday, June 25th, Amsterdam, 5:00-7:00 pm at The American Book Center. Info here. Please come, hug me, hang out, sign my guest book… :)
- Saturday, August 20th, Boston (Back Bay).
- Tuesday, August 23rd, Chicago
- Thursday, August 25th, San Francisco
- Friday, August 26th, Los Angeles (Beverly Hills)
- Monday, August 29th, Philadelphia
- Tuesday, August 30th, New York City (SoHo)
I hope that you enjoy the podcast, I’m running out for a few hours so I’ll see you tomorrow!

incredible success story Holly ! and you did it through your own hard work and dedication. You are number 1 at Amazon :) Its a very rare thing that you’ve done because there is only one blog like yours. Its the original and obviously the public likes it a lot LOL. I want to buy my daughter her own copy of DECORATE for her birthday in July. She would love it. Happy Book tour.

PS When does DECORATE the magazine come out?

Okay, listened! Great interview, very approachable and I liked your advice on not just jumping on the bandwagon with trends, but to ask what you really like about it- personalization! And you’ll be at my favorite place in the world- anthro! Hooray!

Dear Holly,
it was so nice to hera your voice for the first time. It actually reminden me A LOT of Kate Walsh’s voice (the actress of Grey’s Anatomy and Private Practice). I also realized that I’ll be in San Francisco at the time when you’ll be having your book signing there – so if I manage I’ll try and say “Hi”. Otherwise I’ll just wait for your German Tour. You’ll most certainly come to Berlin, right?
By the way – I love love love you book and also your “Wintergarten” turned out just great!
Best wishes from Berlin – stay healthy will all this EHEC mania gong on!

Holly, it was awesome to hear your voice on the podcast, just like putting face to a name I think adding voice to a face is another personal connection. You are inspiring me a lot to may be pursue my dream more proactively rather than wait for things to come together on their own.
And one other comment, on the podcast you said you’ll be coming to St. Loius but I guess you mean St. Paul :) for creative connection. As a local resident I am looking forward to it, just wondering if there is a way to come only for your talk or for a shorter duration rather than being away from the work for whole day. BTW there are a couple of Anthropologie stores here in town if you can schedule another book signing there while visiting MN, it would be a treat for readers like us.

That sounds like a very good excuse to go visit the ABC! Hope to see you in Amsterdam :)

Great podcast Holly. Lovely to hear your calming, cheerful speaking voice again, have missed it since class. Looking forward to Aug. 26 in Bev Hills, my neighborhood Anthro shop. Will be great. Also if you need any assistance before you get here or while you are in town, please let me know. I’m happy to help our in any way. I’m really serious. Just a very small return offer for all you’ve given to we students. :)

@Kalanicut – You are lovely! Really! Thank you! I can’t WAIT TO MEET YOU in LA and I’ll definitely contact you if I need some help though Leslie will be there with me as one of my guests so I think she’ll help me figure things out plus I know LA really well and Chronicle is hooking me up with a rental car. :) :)
June 7th, 2011 at 10:17 pm
@Shalini – Yeah I caught that right after the podcast and asked Alison to edit it but I don’t think she could so it’s okay… and YES you can sign up to come to my book signing at the Creative Connection, I think it’s $10 to get in on that Friday night, their website has more info I think. Maybe I can schedule a book signing outside of TCC as well for those not attending… I have to ask the founder of TCC because she’s paying for my entire trip and I wouldn’t want to take advantage of her kindness. I’ll let you know. :)
June 8th, 2011 at 7:03 am
Loved the interview! Your voice is very nice, but not what I had expected…somehow, I thought you’d have an accent (Boston? Southern? German? Not sure!) But you have none. Great interview. :)
June 8th, 2011 at 11:58 am
@Samantha – Yes, I’m “accent free” as I’ve been told countless times. There is a huge story behind that but I’m pressed for time right now so perhaps I’ll tell you someday if we meet. :)

I can’t wait to listen to the podcast, I’m sure it will be great & this is reminding me how nice it was to finally hear your speaking voice for the first time in the Blogging Your Way podcasts – it definitely makes the connection between blogger + reader feel a bit more real!
Oh, and I wouldn’t miss your book tour for the world! I will be there in Boston for sure!
