Vintage Wallpaper + Music To Make You Smile

Oh do I love me some vintage wallpaper, don’t you? It’s so pretty and whenever I see it I think of all of the great patterns out there still laying around waiting for us to buy and do something amazing at home. Vintage wallpaper can be used for anything – to make cards, frame, make napkin rings for the table, line a drawer, put on an accent wall, use on a wooden headboard, cut a piece to size and paste to the top of a table, I mean the list goes on and on and on… It’s insanely beautiful and I’ve found a few great patterns today over at Retro Villa in Denmark. To add a little fun to this post, please click on each image for a little musical surprise. :)

DIY Paper Mache Teacup by Ann Wood

I came across such an inspirational project while surfing for paper mache ideas on the web… I bumped in to the wonderful world of Ann Wood, whom I’ve known for years, but never thought to look at her blog for such a project. Sure enough, talented Ms. Ann shared a DIY project from A-Z on how to make Paper Mache (Papier-mâché) Teacups and my little heart nearly leaped from my chest. Hey, it doesn’t take much for me – some girls want diamonds and I’m perfectly pleased with a nice little project to try at home with my girlfriends…

To see the entire project, download the teacup template, and to see what Ann Wood is up to lately you’ll need to click here. She’ll love to have you pop by for a visit, I’m sure. And if you make any pretty paper mache teacups, let me know!

BHLDN: Weddings, Parties and Moodboards, By You!

It’s no surprise that Anthropologie would launch a website dedicated to festive parties and lovely brides… why of course, it’s a natural fit! I love BHLDN (they’ve been around for just a wee bit) and hope that it will eventually lead to Anthro creating a section in their stores that sells lovely things for stylish entertainers everywhere, don’t you? When I look at BHLDN and flip through each virtual product (I love their decor page), I feel creative and inspired to do something great.

BHLDN

I’m in the process of working on our big anniversary party this summer and I’m trying to figure out how I want it to look and feel – 10 years of marriage isn’t a tiny blip on the map – it’s a huge accomplishment in a world where, sadly, most couples divorce within the first five years. I’m happy that my husband and I have nearly ten years behind us and can move into the next ten, only my big, big hope is that the next ten will include a new baby, maybe two, and then when I celebrate in the future we’ll have our children by our side. But for now, it’s just us two, and his German family and our friends who will join in for a festive event in our home in late July. I’m so looking forward to it… I’m thinking of using the same colors that we had when we got married – watermelon + papaya + green with lots of white, of course.

BHLDN

And looking at BHLDN not only brings back merry days of when we took our vows, but of how I want to make our 10th anniversary the best it can be while also not feeling put on, showy, fake or over-done like so many people push in your face these days in magazines and on television — I’m so over the “perfectionist phase” for home parties and even interior decorating. I’m all about natural, from the heart displays of love – especially at parties hosted at home. Sure, when you go out you want a wedding or event to be over the top but at home, I don’t know, it needs to feel like the real deal so people can feel their best.

Have you seen and downloaded the BHLDN moodboards? Oh you must! Here is one that I just created for fun – because OH YES you can create an account and make all sorts of moodboards for fun. Love it!

Tine K Home: New Online Shop!

Hello friends, how are you today? I took an extra day off yesterday, hope you didn’t miss me, because I was out prop shopping for a story I’m working on and got a bit carried away with the beautiful weather and all… I couldn’t resist temptation and played way longer than I should have.  But I feel refreshed and so I’m back in action here blogging and doing my thing on decor8. Okay, where to begin this week? There is so much! Well first, let me tell you about some grand news that just hit my desk. You’ll love this…

Tine K Home: New Online Shop

Well I guess those words above in my image sort of gave away the good news… ha! Okay so whenever I blog about Danish products, most of you love seeing them but also tell me that you feel quite left out because you can’t purchase what you see –  many companies I find don’t always have online shops. I love to blog about products without stores online because let’s face it, we don’t read design blogs merely to shop but to be inspired by the things we see, right? So I blog about products that are far from home at times for the sake of inspiration and seeing what’s happening elsewhere. It’s smart to keep our eyes on other styles and products because we can extract what we like from those things and turn them into our own look at home.

This *was* the case with Tine K Home, whom I’ve been blogging about for years, most of you looked at her website and catalog online for inspiration…but today there is a big change to announce. Tine K Home is now available online and they ship to lots of countries, including the UK and the US! Yeah! So here is a glimpse of their gorgeous collection… Enjoy!

Tine K Home: New Online Shop

Congrats to Tine and her team for pulling together this great new shop and I hope those of you who have been wanting to own Tine K products can now do so. Hooray for the internet!
