Jessica Zoob Fabrics + Wallpaper
Contemporary, joyful elegant. Those are the best words to describe this gorgeous collaboration between English painter, Jessica Zoob, and textile design firm, Romo Black Edition. I stumbled across her fabrics and cushions thanks to Michael Berger at local antiques dealer Galerie Bongartz - a favorite shop in Hannover with the most gorgeous antiques from Europe expertly curated and on display for purchase. What originally lured me into Galerie Bongartz several years ago was a stunning vintage disco ball hanging near to their entrance - they won't sell it (or else I would already have it in my home!) but after inquiring about the disco ball, I walked around the shop and fell in love with so many pieces - my current passion is their assortment of convex mirrors.
Fast forward to a month ago or so, when I visited the shop again and Mr. Berger so nicely showed me the most gorgeous cushions, they looked like mini paintings, by Jessica Zoob. Her digitally printed linens, velvets and wallcoverings are simply stunning. Maybe not all together in one space, but definitely scattered here and there throughout a bedroom, living room or entry space. I imagine a solid velvet sofa in a favorite color with a few of her cushions or a big white sofa (like the Ghost from designer Paola Navone) with cushions and perhaps linen panels on the windows.
In this post, I've included images of her work and a video with Jessica speaking about her line and inspirations below.
I also had a chance to flip through the Romo for Jessica Zoob wallcoverings and textiles book while there and fell in love with the gorgeous yardage of available textiles in which you could transform your home into a sumptuous painterly oasis. The moment I saw her work I thought of my visits to ABC Carpet & Home and how her work would fit in beautifully in their furniture showroom. I would love to own a few cushions for my living room so I may go back to Galerie Bongartz and indulge a little.
About the artist: Contemporary impressionist painter Jessica Zoob trained at Central School of Art and Nottingham University. She exhibits her work regularly both in the UK and worldwide. Zoob’s paintings create bright new worlds rich in imagination yet gently infused by emotion. Working in collaboration with Romo Black Edition her emotionally charged paintings have translated beautifully onto fabrics, wallcoverings and cushions. This joyous collection includes intricately printed fine linens, striking panels, exquisite velvets, dramatic wallcoverings and divine cushions.
And if you think the linen is gorgeous, you should see these fabrics in velvet - I nearly fainted!
