Barcelona Tips?

July 6, 2017

Hello everyone! I’m packing for Barcelona and will be taking you with me via Instagram @decor8 if you’d like to join! I’ll post Insta Stories and photos there beginning tomorrow (Friday) until next Tuesday or Wednesday. I can’t wait to show you what I’m seeing for the first time. I’ve never been so I’m quite excited. I’ve done little research on what to expect and what to see so if you have some good tips for my friend and I, we’d be so happy to hear them in the comments below.

I’ve been to Barcelona a couple times in the last few months (super lucky me) and the best tapas place is called Bar Cañete:

It also has a restaurant, but for the real experience, grab a seat at the bar and have as many plates as you can squeeze into your tummy!

    It’s fantastic!

Was in Barcelona (for the first time) three weeks ago. We got a great overview of the city on our first day by booking a sidecar tour ( Park Guell and La Sagrada Familia are beautiful and worth the admission prices. (interior of the church is simply stunning) We also toured La Pedrera and Casa Batllo. For those two, I would have been happy just taking a photo of the exteriors. The interior details are very interesting, but ruined by the CROWDs of people. But right next door to Casa Batllo, there’s another building (Casa Amatller) that has a cute cafe/chocolate shop in the back. Was nice sitting down and taking a break there. Another must visit would be the Palau de la Musica Catalana building. It is a concert hall designed by Montaner (a contemporary of Gaudi) and it’s also spectacular. Enjoy – can’t wait to see your photos/impressions of Barcelona.

Like you, I’m an American expat living in Europe, and one thing from home I miss is American / Australia (where I lived before Europe) brunches. So discovering Brunch and Cake ( on my last trip to Barcelona was such fun. I keep going back to Barcelona for the art: Gaudi, Picasso and Miro – I can’t get enough, in fact I’ll be there in 10 days or so myself. My 3rd visit to Barcelona in 18 months.

Oh! Hope you’ll have fun in our city, for visits I would make sure to include Palau Güell, which is less known but so interesting! A fun tapas place is Moritz beer factory, a locals favorite is Polleria Fontana in Gracia district. I love a little vintage furniture store called Fusta’m. We have lots of recommendations in our Barcelona guide here: :) in case you fancy some more!
