"We must BE the change we wish to SEE!" (Mahatma Gandhi) This was a message that harpist Andreas Vollenweider both spoke about, and conveyed through the musical journey that he took us on this past Sunday night in Boston at Sculler's Jazz Club. My husband has enjoyed Andreas' music for many years since both of his parents are deeply connected to music and my husband composes music and plays the piano and keyboard himself. Andreas Vollenweider is like nothing you've ever heard before. It is beauty and love and peace and joy and sorrow and pain and extreme bliss all rolled into brilliant music that causes you to drift off, forming stories in your mind. I've been a fan of his music for only a few years, since 1999, but my husband has grown up with his music and enjoys it very much. Sure, we love our techno, house, jann arden style folk, rap, hip hop, pop, you name it... But you've got to listen to Andreas play the harp (along with a chinese harp, which was beyond words). It's hypnotic and simply lovely. After the performance, which by the way was intimate (about the size of a large living room) and ended with 3 standing ovations, we headed over to the North End to enjoy the night air and slices of pizza in the typical north end style. It was a great Sunday evening... I wanted to post about this for my friends that live in Germany and up in Montreal, I think you will love Andreas' music if you haven't heard of him yet... Heavenly. The Book of Roses CD is so pretty...
