Big News: Jonathan Adler Germany + Meet Jonathan In Berlin!

I have such great news to reveal that you've not heard about yet and it's all about American potter, designer, and author Jonathan Adler...

Jonathan Adler is now available in Germany AND he will be hosting a gorgeous press event and customer event at KaDeWe in Berlin on January 17, 2018 located at Tauentzienstraße 21-24 in the brand new Jonathan Adler section of the store, on the fourth floor.

I will be there with Mr. Adler since the night before, I am part of a very special and intimate dinner party to honor him and his launch into the German market.

Then on the 17th, I'll be at KaDeWe to give a warm welcome to Jonathan along with (hopefully) all of you. It will be just gorgeous to meet you all and for him, very exciting as he is so interested in learning more about the interiors scene here in Germany and to share his designs with all of you which range from furniture to pottery, small accessories and gifts.

ABOUT JONATHAN

Starting his career as a potter, Jonathan opened his first store in Soho, New York, in 1998. Figuring “why stop at pots,” he launched throw pillows and then started imagining the sofas those pillows could sit on. Soon enough he was in the home décor biz, working with artisans of all kinds to craft everything from swanky side tables to divine dinnerware to custom upholstery. If you’re not familiar with his designs, do browse his website in the United States or the UK site.

Polished, eccentric and unexpected, Jonathan describes his aesthetic as ‘Modern American Glamour’, a look which he achieves by creating a foundation of timelessly chic furniture and accessorizing with abandon. Jonathan’s favorite motto, “If your heirs won’t fight over it, we won’t make it”, reflects his continued commitment to impeccable craftsmanship and irreverent luxury. But his love of pottery remains at his core: his office in New York sits between a giant kiln and a working pottery studio. Ultimately, Jonathan believes that your home should make you happy – and I couldn’t agree more!

DID YOU KNOW?

Several years ago when I was making my first book, Decorate, I spent a day styling his home in New York City alongside my team and photographer Debi Treloar. I will never forget the experience of working in his gorgeous, colorful home which is filled with so many things he designed. I walked away from that experience forever changed; which is why his home story in my first book is one of the most meaningful shoots I've ever been on.

Now, so many years later, I am overjoyed to welcome Jonathan Adler to Germany officially. I am also so proud because I've been writing about him on decor8 since I started this site nearly 12 years ago, so you can be sure that to finally get to meet him for the first time next month is, for me, a great honor and I'm happy to extend the invitation to all of you if you're able to be in Berlin on January 17th. It will be a special chance for you to meet Jonathan (one in a million, really!) and I know that you will walk away inspired and happy since I've heard that he's a delightful man to spend time with.

If your heirs won’t fight over it, we won’t make it.
