I loved hearing from Marta today, a graphic designer and collage artist based in Salt Lake City. Her photos made me smile, I felt an instant connection to her work. You know that feeling, right? The warmth, the tingle, a sense that this person would be your friend if you met them in real life. Here’s a glimpse of what inspires her, starting with her inspiration board – something ANYONE can do so easily, and it will really make you happy once you have, promise. Here’s what Marta has to say about her inspiration and work.
“I love the idea of spreading ideas through photos. This is my art studio where I create journals, collages, cards, and do graphic design (my real job). Above is a photo of my giant inspiration board hanging above my desk, some of my favorite tools, and my desktop, mid-collage creation.” – xox, marta
Thank you, Marta! :)
Reader Kristin wrote in with a few images that really caught my eye, especially her cork cabinets. Take it away, Kristin!
“I’m a renter and can’t paint my kitchen cabinets so I recently covered them in cork to get rid of the 70′s vibe and to get the most out of the small space. It’s the perfect place to hang clippings and small pieces of art work although the cork is so new this is all that I’ve put up so far. Also, a grouping of prints and posters in the living room — the smaller two are from Etsy and the flock print is from Good Shape Design.” – Kristin.
Thanks Kristin for sharing. I wish I had a link for Kristin so readers could track her down on the web, but she didn’t include any with her submission so for now, we’ll only know her as Kristen with the cool cork cabinets. :)
More clever displays to share, this time it’s the space of the OTHER half of the Orange Beautiful blog, Laura’s partner in crime, Emily. I blogged about Laura’s walls yesterday, so it’s Emily’s turn today — and it’s only fair because Orange Beautiful is a collaborative blog. Isn’t this a great arrangement? (click to enlarge)
“This art wall includes, among other things, screen-printed band posters (purchased at last year’s Intonation Festival); pen&ink drawings and digital prints by Jw; a beautiful Polaroid transfer piece by my lovely friend, B; a watercolor of a crane that I did when I was 15; woodblock prints by Lys(Beth) of hundredsofsparrows fame; and a colored pencil drawing I did in high school, based off of the stained glass window in the front door of Mr. Belvidere’s house… That’s right: the TV show.” – Emily

More art on walls to share today, this time it’s the space of fellow blogger, Laura from the Orange Beautiful blog. Thank you for taking the time to email me Laura, and to go the extra mile by posting about it on your own blog to inspire your readers. It’s great to see everyone sharing ideas and enjoying the unique, personal space that they call home.
“Here is my favorite art wall, that contains (among other things) a screenprint purchased in Tokyo, silhouettes of me and my husband, a picture from a photo booth taken in France (reminds me of Amelie!) and an original painting my sister-in-law gave us. All the frames are from either Ikea or Target” – Laura.
