I hope you’ve been linking over to our blog of the week, Absolutely Beautiful Things. This lady is amazing, I adore her and her blog. She mentioned suzanis recently and I can’t believe I haven’t told you about them yet. I feel so guilty. They’re such a pleasure to behold, buy, showcase on your bed. Have you heard of them? If not, learn all about these treasures here from the experts. East Treasures, an eBay seller specializing in these gorgeous handmade embroidered textiles, has so many fabulous ones to offer and they’d be perfect on your bed.
Color, color, color! Bold Missoni takes fashion to another level constantly, so why not the home? And with the stitch pattern being as fabulous as it is, how can you resist?
Neiman Marcus carries the Missoni collection, and although some of it is way out of my reach, the bedding is somewhat affordable, especially if you layer pieces in with budget finds from other stores. You can dress a bed using mostly finds elsewhere that are inexpensive, add a few Missoni shams and a throw at the foot of the bed, and you’ve given your bedroom a fashion makeover without purchasing 100% from this collection.
I do have one question though. Why are their candles priced between $275-375? Am I missing something here?
decor8 reader Jet G. sent in a pic of his newly designed bedroom, with a very fresh, simple approach to displaying the things he loves. This wall is a great example of a clean, well-edited space – and that art doesn’t always need to be displayed on the wall – it can extend down to a shelf, leaned against the wall as this picture shows. And don’t you love the little starfish and the white orb lamp?
The grouping of objects is serene and uncomplicated, and the touch of the ocean is just great! Jet said that you can actually Rate His Room over on HGTV.com, so if you’d be so kind to cast your vote, click here. And Jet… That bedroom of yours is so chic as is, but when I looked down and spotted that very unexpected Zebra rug — All I can say is bonus points to you for going there because most wouldn’t dare. Mega gold stars for you!

The Spring 2007 issue of InStyle Home just hit newsstands and it really delivers with stunning home tours, trend reports, and even a DIY section on how to use wallpaper in far less traditional ways – on headboards, screens, as wall art, etc.
The cover shows American actress Alicia Silverstone, 30, who really surprised me with her eco-conscious home and lifestyle (she is a vegan and actively involved in animal rights). It’s rare to see a young actress, and her musician husband, so tuned in to the environment. From her Mod Green Pod butterfly pillows, to energy-saving appliances, roof with solar panels, her obsessive need to unplug everything, and their recycled bowling alley floor turned tabletop, their home tour is quite impressive. I purchased the issue just to see that. But there’s more…
One of my favorite decorating articles, Off the Wall, was especially helpful because it not only gives you alternative ways to use wallpaper in your home, but a complete how to section so you can DIY what they show. I love the DIY headboad (below), made from foam-core panels cut to size and wallpaper. Swanky! A few online resources highlighted for wallpaper that I found blogworthy: Rare Chic and a very funny name (and store) called Naked and Angry.
Additional highlights from their Spring issue: All of the Zebra rugs, Chinese ceramic stools, a peacock trend alert (looks like they’re back again in ’07!), and tons of yellow. Of course, we’ve covered these trends here on decor8, but seeing their take was interesting to check out.
