Blog of the Week: Creative Thursday

This post is nearly the size of a book chapter, but from the emails I reply to almost daily, I think it may help you in some small way.

You may notice the blog of the week is actually a website filled with art, the blog of Marisa Haedike, and podcasts. These podcasts are the primary reason for selecting Creative Thursday as Blog of the Week.

When I started listening to Marisa’s podcasts last year on Creative Thursday, I heard a familiar voice. My own. Nearly everything she discusses resonates with me on some level. Maybe it’s because we’re the same age and have that “been there, done that” mentality – it comes from experiencing a lot at a young age and knowing that you have “arrived”, you have nothing to prove anymore. I don’t mean arrived as in big success, fame, riches, power, etc. I’m talking about an affair of the heart and mind. Lotta’s Gotta Brand New Book (and Blog!)

I’ve known about the new title soon to be released by Lotta Jansdotter, Simple Sewing: Patterns and How-To for 24 Fresh and Easy Projects (Hardcover) for some time now, but had no clue Lotta blogged until I heard it from my friend Anh-Minh. Isn’t that a great bit of information to stumble upon? I thought so.

You have to check out Lotta’s blog, and don’t forget to pre-order her new book at Amazon for $16. It releases March 1st, and I can’t wait to try some of the projects inside. I’m also excited to see the photos inside since her photographer is Meiko Arquillos who is responsible for some beautiful work for ReadyMade magazine and Chronicle Books. Yeah!

Dooce on Decluttering

So, I’m reading Dooce today over a hot cup of chicken noodle, and I spot a mini tour of her space. Instantly, I felt my smile widen, along with my eyes. Dooce on design? Cool. I may not have her adorable haircut, the sweet face daughter, a husband who wears rubber clogs, or one single mormon in my family, but I just knew that the Heather Armstrong and I shared something in common… The desire to declutter in ’07.
